RE: Anybody having posting problems

I am having posting problems. I can t use the buttons on a post " window,"  and when I click " OK"  to post to a thread, the window goes blank, but doesn t disappear. Then I have to refresh the window to make sure my post appeared.

I had PUT under " Favorites"  (of course) but all of a sudden, it stopped working.  I deleted it and re-did it and it still won t work.  Very odd.

ForestCreature, ask Gene if he uses windows and recently loaded the service pack to fix the newest security vulnerability?  I did, and since then I have problems logging on and reading messages.  I have found on my PC in particular, I have problems with the Remote Procedure Call service now.  Depending on what OS you have go into Settings/Control Panel/Admin Tools/Services and check the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service.  I have to restart mine about every 5-7 minutes now, and when it is stopped, you cannot read the messages on the board, and if you try to log in, instead of getting a pop up window to fill out, you get a full webpage with the login features in the corner of the page.  FYI - I have the same problem off and on with Win2K on my work PC as I have at home.

Sounds like what happened a week or so ago. It was a server problem then and I ll bet it s the same again only a different server this time. Last time I had the " blank message blocks"  this time It s fine.
 I went as far as reformatting the hard drive with windows on it and reinstalling and guess what it didn t help. It is at PUT s end or a close in server.

I can access PUT from work without any problem, but at home, I can t see the message of a post--it s completely blank and I can t post anything.  It s only by logging on at work that I was even able to read your post, Dave, and also respond.
 
 If it s helpful, when I would log on at home, it would tell me that it was opening page, then it woudl say " done with errors"

griffsmom thats exactly what mine was doing. I logged out of PUT then deleted all the cookies from my computer, the tempory internet files and the cache. I then hard booted my computer. Everything is running great now. I guess all those secret stashes were bogging everything down. Only bummer is I have to log into about 20 sites now because I emptied everything.

Thank goodness other people are having the problem and it,s not just me.
 Having to read through all the " yes it s working fine posts"  isn t funny,
 when I know those out there that can t post, cannot say
 NOIT S NOT WORKING FINE,
 because we cannot post or even read what is posted[:@].
 At home, we have 2 Dell computers, and mine IS NOT FINE,  while DW s is working fine. We are both connected to a home network using a cable modem.[&:]

Hello all!!  Seems to be working fine now...  I had " blank message blocks"  as well...  I also tried to sign on the Fireside Chat last night to see if anyone was there and having this problem and my Norton 2002 Virus thingy stopped everything and said it was " trying to embed a malicious file" .  This happened three times.  I gave up after that.  [&:]

Finally am able to read the message boards again.  Thanks for the fix.  Admin, is there someway you could let us know you are aware of a problem and are trying to fix it.  Although I emailed you twice, I didn t get a response so was never sure that the emails were getting through either.  
 Maybe an announcement on the opening page or something.  Just a thought - I was really getting testy not being able to read the messages.  I have no other life.[]
