how many of you are camping for Labor day????

slowpez

jpreiserWe did plan to but my DH, the king of procrastinators, waiting to long to reserve a spot and we were afraid to chance driving a long way late Friday and lucking out with a spot at a campground that doesn t take reservations.  On the bright side, we are going to Black Rock SP in Ga. on Friday. [:D]

jpreiserJanet, just one problem with this poll (and the whole forum this weekend)...

Only those of us not camping can respond to the poll. [:(]

Ab Diver--- one of the (seemingly very) few who s stuck at home this weekend.

jpreiserThere I changed the question  i thought the same only after I posted it!! [:D]

jpreiserReally wanted to, but for lots of reasos beyond our control we re staying home yet again this weekend.   Only camped two weekends the whole summer.   I could let myself be depressed about it, but depression and anger just take up too much of my time and energy.  I could be applying that to something else, like playing with grandkids.

jpreiserWe went camping.  I thought there was a scout trip this weekend and didn t make reservations.  I could not get Friday night so we only went Saturday through Monday.  Saturday late afternoon and Sunday were beautiful.  Then the rain started early this morning, but we had a good time even in the rain.

jpreiserYup- went to a state park about 25 minutes away. Left at 1pm Thursday afternoon and got home at noon today.[:)]

jpreiserYes, just got back.  Went to a small state park on the eastern shore.  Every site was booked but only about 1/3 showed up.  I guess the rain scared them away.

jpreiserWe were to busy Laboring on Labor Day. But next weekend we re headed to our favorite Keys campground, Long Key State Park and we got our favorite site too.
We can t wait, it s been 3 weeks since our last trip, seems like forever.

jpreiserI originally didn t plan on going but the group that we camped w/ wanted us to join them so figured what the heck.  It actually turned out to be a pretty good time and amazingly the CG wasn t very packed out [:D] maybe the gas prices scared many away.  [;)]

jpreiserWent to Devil s Lake SP, WI.  Weather was great, 70 s during the day, about 50 at night, and no rain.  It was a great trip!

Gas prices at let s say 15 gallons each way, and gas goes up a half a buck a gallon,  that increases the cost of the trip by $15.  $15 will not detter me from camping.

Hope everyone had a great weekend,

jpreiserWe went camping this weekend also to a State Park that is about 90 miles from home and is one of the busiest State Parks in the state. The campgrounds were full but it was still quite peacefull. Many of the campers spent the day at the beach there or riding bike. The weather was great, not to hot not to cool and no rain. It was a very nice camping trip. We didn t leave today until checkout time to help avoid some of the traffic , which seemed to be the thing to do because it wasn t a bad trip home at all that late in the day.

jpreiserWell, we had rain on and off all weekend. Took a road to trip check out some CG s in KY, but other than that, we stayed home (DH had to work his P/T job  ).

Would have loved to have camped, nice temps.

jpreiserYou should have a YES - but wish I had stayed home option.  The campground was fine, considering it was our only last minute option.  Friday and Saturday were fine, although the youngest was cranky.  Sunday dawned all drizzly and wet, and it just got wetter as the day went on.  Our site turned into a sticky muddy mess, we tried to make the best of it, but by Sunday night had mostly given up.  The kids had cabin fever, the baby cried everytime someone looked at her, and the teenager and Dad were about as sociable as bears awakened to early from hibernation.  Thankfully we were close to home so when Monday dawned just as yucky, we ran the kids home, came back and threw everything together to go home.  Unpacked, and popped back up to let everything dry out, and now I have a major cleaning task to get the camper back in tip top shape.

jpreiserI met the Wahls (TJWsantafe) at the Naval Rec Area in Soloman s Island MD. Last year it was packed, this year it was more full than a regular weekend, but not near full.

Traffic coming back was unexpectedly light, Did not have to wait at the Bay Bridge toll, got in and got out... I was happy!

Hot Hot Hot Friday and Saturday, after a really really bad storm Saturday night, it cooled off, still had to turn on the air (for the dog on the floor). Sunday and MOnday, the temps were great.
