Review of  Jellystone Campground, Luray, Va

?   We stayed on lots  8 and 10 the week of August 16-23, 2003, so I will review the facilities close to this area and also the campground overall.
I will rate the following on a scale of 1-10(1 being Bad and 10 being Excellent).
?   Bathroom facilities ?Bath House #1 ? I would rate this as a 5.  The cleanliness had a lot to be desired.  Many times there was a lack of toilette paper and paper towels.  We complained several times about this and it got better for 1 day and then went back to the same(lack of toilette paper and paper towels).  The bathrooms were supposed to be cleaned 2 times per day but at times this was not the case.
?   Game Room- I would rate this as an 8.   Kept the kids occupied.
?   Laundry- I would rate this as a 9.  Convenient locations.
?   Camp sites that we were on- I would rate site 10 as an 8.  Level and spacious.  Site 8 was on the corner and sunny in the afternoon(good thing I had Popup Gizmos) and not level and I would rate this site as a 6.
?   Camp Store- I would rate this as a 9.  Well stocked with RV supplies, groceries, sundries, sodas, ice and beer.
 ?   Slide- I would rate this as a 10.
?   Snack Shop- I would rate this an 8.  They ran out of pizza on Saturday night.
?   Paddle Boats- I would rate these as a 9.
?   Pools- I would rate these as a 9. Three pools.  One pool for adults, one pool for small ones and one pool for the wee little ones.
?   Pavilion- I would rate the activities presented here as a 9.
 ?   Other topics:
?   The campground is close to Luray Caverns and Garden Maze.
?   The campground is close to Skyline drive.
?   Super Wal-Mart and Food Lion within 5 miles of the campground.
?   In order to go on the slide, paddle boats and mini golf, you can pay $10.00 per day or $15.00 for the entire stay(they provide a wrist band).
?   Golf Carts are available for rental.
?   The 5 mile and 10 mile speed limit was not adhered to.

Overall I would rate this Campground as an 9.  I would go back but chose another site.  There were no buddy sites that I could see; Jellystone in Quarryville, Pa offers buddy sites.

Joe BuskirkIt seems at most jellystones the nightly rates are high,,, then to have to pay extra for golf, slides ec.. I would have hoped they were included.. what is a buddy site????

 Joe BuskirkLocomotiveMan,

I have posted new pictures on Webshots at the bottom of my post, of Jellystone- Luray, Va.  9 was a nicer site than 8, much shadier.  B-12 was on the main drag and didn t have much shade as I can remember.

A buddy site as defined by the Jellystone-Quarryville, Pa campground are sites identified as for example: 310 & 310A, lots next to each other. Buddy sites are marketed as such and you cannot reserve one site without reserving the other.  Another family and my family utilize this everytime we travel to Quarryville, it is a nice way of making sure we are together and the sites are typically large.  Please see the link below which is a site map.  Our families are going Oct. 10 weekend and will be on 310 and 310A for the Halloween activities.
