 birolBirol,

If your doctor still has you on the Inhibace, the dose can be lowered to see if you can tolerate it. But, Joann is right. You need to have your bp below 130/80, which is the standard I use for my patients.

The beta blockers are good drugs, but usually the side effects from ACE inhibitors (like Inhibace) are fewer and farther between. Good class of drugs.

Again, be patient. There are several classes of drugs for hypertension. And don t be afraid of multiple drug therapy (eventually). Sometimes it takes several medications to control hypertension.

brainpauseSo what you are saying is, side effects of beta blockers are better than ace inhibitors ? I knew I was an ace, and my body did not like being inhibited I guess [8D]

This particular one says, it might result in depression, swelling of feet and hands and some other scary stuff which I understand just might kill me. I mean, rare doesn t mean it doesn t happen right ? [:D]

I hated inhibace, all the headache, and the stifness of my right back neck all the way to my head, and it felt numb. The fatique was unmanagable ......

One question, when using the drugs, will I be able to do that trucking stuff ? involves lifting 15 Lbs of newspapers , around 70 of them or so. With some short break in between of course. 1 minute or so, 5 of them, then 3 of them and so on. Will that kill me ?

birolHope your feeling better, just rememebr most who start Bp meds get dizzy until your body adjust... so be careful when bending over and standing up to quickly...   I worked at a pharmacy and the digital bp machines are good but the wrist one was not very accurate..  People always returned the wrist ones..

birol

jpreiserI saw a digital, manual pump arm one at Wall mart today, 38 bucks. I am gonna grab it tomorrow !

Did your doctor also put you on a cholesterol medication? You are describing perfectly the side effects of cholesterol-lowering drugs.

You should not be affected so that you can t drive your paper truck. These drugs are not narcotics or benzodiazepines, which can earn you a DUI.

Like I ve said, you may just have to try several medications (and even several within a class) until you find something you can tolerate. I don t ever use Inhibace in my practice; I use Altace with my patients almost exclusively. Rarely have complaints from pts about it. I think it is marketed as Altace in Canada as well, but not sure.

No, actually, usually the ACE inhibitors are tolerated better than the beta blockers.

Although I believe in an informed patient, the drug inserts found in/on bottles and on the internet sometimes give TOO MUCH information, it seems. Look up any drug you want. Side effects that sound bad are a part of nearly every drug. So be careful reading those papers, else you might have an effect called " psychosomatic" , which means that your mind talks your body into having a certain side effect.

Nope, it was just inhibace ..... I hated taking it ....I hope I don t have to take cholesterol lowering drugs. I thought they had dfone that test too, and when she said all look ok, I was so happy. Right after that she said we need cholesterol  test too, arrrrggghhh

Except a slight headache, and little bit of tiredness (I couldn t sleep properly, but that could just be me), I feel just fine. SO I can work, yehaaaaaaa cause I have some days scheduled and need the money [;)]
