Patiently waiting - we won't be able to get the PU out of the drive for at least 48hrs.  Doing road repairs and putting in curbs.  They are re-doing the apron of our drive (yeah - it's needed it for quite a while) and we can't use the driveway for at least 48hrs.

This cyber tour is going too, too slow.  It could be weeks before we even get out of NC unless more join in.  The chili vat is so full and bubbling and Buford is going to have to have more rest from trailing behind the popup.  Will keep you posted as we head for your driveway.  Be sure to clear out a big spot as there will be plenty of popups that will want to park in your driveway.  If you decide you can get your popup out of the driveway, then try to join us somewhere on our travels.

I've been holding off to see what the weather was going to do, but it doesn't look as if it's gonna get much better so I'm about to hit the road with my Van, Popup, lil Spanky and my big fry bread kettle.   I'm thinking of making traditional corn soup as well, have you got a large hog, and about a half acre of corn that we can make into hominy?  Oh, and several large trees, dead and downed to keep the fire going.   (Got to scrape and scald that hog, soak the corn in wood ash lye, and then got to simmer all the ingredients for a long while.)    I'll swing by NightOwls place on my way down, she's been busy with a new project, she's making glass beads, and they are beautiful.   Maybe she'll find room for her torch and tank and rods of glass and give us some lessons.   I haven't heard from my little brother, Topcat, but it's a sure bet that he's caught wind of that chili by now and is heading your way.     I'll probably meet up with y'all somewhere near Cherokee,  c ya soon!

wii, that's great.  I have a hog down on the farm but don't ask me to cut up the fat for making lard.  That was my job as a little girl.:rolleyes: Actually, the vat I have on top of the popup is a scalding vat we once used.  Somehow I will have to find another to use for the hog and we can always find plenty of wood that has been downed in the forest by various storms that have come through NC.  So far this popup parade is going slow.  No one has joined me so I may as well turn to the west for Cherokee and then we can go south a ways.  Buford is going to make sure the hog stays in back of the other trailer behind the popup.  I tried to get that hog in the popup door but he wouldn't fit and there was no room on top with the chili vat and the tower with the lawn mower blade for bypassing bridges and other problems like traffic jams.  This I-40 traffic gets pretty heavy and looking back there were a bunch of wrecks happening right behind me.

I think we need to start a new thread for the trip.  People that read the original post may not check it again, but I am going to get my draw bar back.  The nut for the ball needed to be tightened, and then I will be joining you.  DS has a Boy Scout camping trip that he can't miss, so I am bringing the whole troop along.  If they hold real still I can pack a bunch of them into the PU when it is popped down.  The rest will have to ride on the roof rack.  We will not be able to bring the bikes now. :mad:
