OK, decided to try to add an avatar and when I added it, it said it was too large

How do I change a size?  I have a pic on a diskette.

REMEBER -- I'm computer illiterate.

Ok, If you have some photo software on your computer, Like Picture It, open your picture and usually it's under "resize" or "save as special", look around you'll find a page with the dimensions on it. Now you can probably pick pixels instead of inches. Insert the width of your picture as 79 (80 max), and it should resize the height for you. Then save it and upload.

Gary, sent you an email from my work -- if you can do it, great, if not OH WELL!

I resized mine and it was so distorted that you could not see it or use it.
I think you will have to take a new picture and make sure it is small or useing the less pixels..
Hard to take a 250k pixel picture and make it clear with only 20K pixels.
Tried several i had and none would come out clean and neat.
just me!

Check your e-mail, it should be there. Don't forget to turn on the avatar in the options page. Near the bottom of the page IIRC.

Hmmm...I used PictureIt and reset the size of the picture I wanted to use to 59x79 pixels. But when I tried to use it as an Avatar, it said the picture was too big and that the maximum size was 80x80 pixels!

Any suggestions?

Did you save the changes? Save the changed size as a copy if Picture It will allow that, that way you still have the origional file to play with if need be.

UPDATE: It's fixed (obviously). The problem was me...not the software! *blush*

That's exactly the problem, ForestCreature. I wasn't saving it...thought when I clicked "Done" it automatically saved it, but it didn't. Guess that's what I get for thinking! LOL!

Just wanted to thank you Gary for the help -- it seems to be working.

I use irfanview for a picture editor. It is a free program and works well for resizing pictures. You can also use it as a slideshow program.
