Just curious as too how many of you are using a sway bar.

I had different dealers say Yes, you need one and others say No, you don't need one.

I am having one put on.  For the $90 it is just added peace of mind to me.

Also having a w/d hitch installed.

The first time you're on a fast moving two lane hiway and a truck goes zooming by in the other direction, you'll know if you need a sway bar or not!!! I did the same thing you're doing, just put one on anyway! Haven't had a lick of problem as far as sway or truck passing by!!!

When we purchased our hybrid we didn't have a WD or Sway Control device.  As we were leaving the dealer, one of the salesman noticed a tail light on the trailer wasn't working.  We went back to their shop and the tech figured out that the wiring on our vehicle wasn't correct.

While we were waiting for them to fix the wiring, I decided to purchase a WD with Sway control.  It was one of the smartest things I did.  In fact about half way home we stopped and tightened up the sway control because we were getting a little too much sway.

It makes a huge difference in the joy of towing

the dealer wouldn't let us leave with out it, said the length of the van and the trailer that we needed it, and since we were traveling great distances it was an insurance policy for us to get there safely, glad we got it, hepls a lot againist those 18 wheelers on the interstate!

I was the one who would not leave without one, dealer had to do some special welds for me.

As far as the WDH, I talked to the dealer and the F150(shortbed, regular cab) and the 21' ultra-light Bantam, they said it would be over kill with my set up, the only difference I would notice would be on a really bumpy road. So I use a sway bar and a classIII hitch.
