I drove through the lot of my Fleetwood dealer and notice that Fleetwood has changed the new AlumiTite Roof already.  My  AlumiTite roof that I got this spring has 4 pieces of plastic, one on each corner of the roof that connects the front/rear sides of the roof panel to the long sides of the roof.  On my roof the corner pieces are coming unglued from the sides of the roof. :(   On the 2004 trailers I saw, the whole front and front corners are one piece.  I wonder if they have had problems with the corners coming off other trailers too.

What, Fleetwood have some kind of roof problem? Get real!!! ;);) ;)

I know Cliff it is hard to believe they would have a roof problem.

I think my 2003 1/2 is the same as the 2004.  The front and back roof panels are one piece that fit over the side roof panels.   Now...if they'd just realize the new roof is shorter than the ABS and make the door fit without popping out of its clips every time you move in the camper.....

VJM is the problem with the you door not fitting have to do with the way the latches on the door latch behind (or don't latch behind) the plate on the door?

We had our new roof installed a couple months ago and it has the front and rear part of the roof is a solid piece of abs.  I also noticed that it is a little different in desing from my in-laws.  they have a 2003 Bayside and their Roof has the solid peice of ABS (front and back panel) but the design/texture of the aluminum is different, theirs has 2 sections that are dimond textured and the part between the roof rack is smooth ( or vice cersa, i can't recall for sure)  And ours is all dimond textured, Don't know if it has any importance or not or if it's just cosmetic.  Any way, so far so good.

tlhdoc,

That is not all that has changed in the Utah. They reversed the whole floor layout. Where the door was in the rear half it is now in the front .

Yep..where the door latches to the plates on the camper at the top... We looked at an older camper with ABS roof and at several new ones, and most of the newer (2003 1/2 and 2004) ones we looked at seem to have a problem with the fit.  We have a difficult time getting the tenting on the right side (facing the outside of the door) pulled over far enough for the velcro to fit well also.

I have several problems with my new roof and the door is one of them.  You hit the nail on the head when you said it is because the new roof is lower.  My tenting is loose and I am afraid it will rip or pull out of the track in a strong wind.  The door will not stay latched in place, which allows all kinds of bugs into the PU.  One night I was outside and the kids were inside with the lights on.  When I came in the PU was full of bugs.  It took several days (and we had a  bunch of mosquito bites) to get rid of them all.

Wow...luckily this is the only problem we've had with the roof so far.  It stinks but there just doesn't seem to be any way to decently fix it. If they moved them...there would be extra holes in the upper wall...but even if they "could" there isn't any more room to move them up!   I'll have to make sure i have all the tenting securely attached so I don't get the bugs!     Haven't noticed it being really "loose" actually, wish for a little extra width on one side...it barely fits.  Oh well...  It seems every RV we have looked at had some problems...not just Coleman/Fleetwood...or who ever they are this week.  Its just frustrating.

My roof has the diamond and smooth texture like your in-law's trailer.  I think the diamond section will be a little harder to clean because of all of the little groves, but I will not know until i wash it a few times.

I think Fleetwood reversed the floor plans on several models this year, Monterey, Niagara, Bayside, Westlake, Utah, and Mesa.  Some of the floor plans are how they were several years ago.  In the past they would reused some of the model names from year to year, but the floor plans would be very different.

I guess they'll keep updating and changing their design until they feel it's right.

I think they keep changing it because it has problems.  My corner pieces are coming off.    That could be why they went to a continuous plastic piece all the way across the front of the roof.
