How do you secure for travel?

Dw is planning on putting the rubber matted material in the pantry and cabinats.

How do you secure things like pots and pans, dishes, canned food so they will not be all over the place when you get to your destination?

We always used boxes inside the cabinets to keep things in some sort of order but would like to store things differently in the Kiwi to avoid all the bending over and pawing through boxes to get something out.

Any suggestions will be appreciated as I will relay them to DW.

Gene try measuring your cabinets and fitting them with baskets. Baskets can be easily slid out of the cabinet and tend to be sturdier then boxes. Rubbermaid or one of those type make some great ones and even stackers to save you some space. I believe 5gonefishing uses some type of bungee like strap to keep things in place during travel.  Good luck on the hunt for new toys!!!!

I have a couple of different things I do. One of them is using the non-slip stuff on the cabinet and shelf bottoms. But for the pantry, I placed inside of it some plastic drawers (on the small side, has about five drawers that sit on the top shelf). My chile bowls and big coffee mugs stay in the box they came in, complete with the styrofoam packing. But most of the items are just placed inside the cabinets. I think the key is, if you got enough stuff inside the cabinet, then it can't really move around in there! My biggest problem has been the TV, which I've tried those "Super TV Grips" that didn't stay stuck to the plastic, then tried a bungee cord which seems to work, but I'm too afraid the single cord will slip off one side or the other. Latest item on the TV is one of those fish-net things I found in the back of a car. I've got it pulled tight, and looks like it will work better than everything else, but I'm still not happy with it.

Yesterday I found some little 90

I use the rubber liner in all my cabinet floors where I keep my pots, pans, coffee maker, etc.  None of it budges during travel.  Smaller items are kept in stacking baskets which also sit on the liner.  We store our T.V. on the  floor in the bathroom where it fits perfectly.  I also have a square of the liner I sit it on both in use and storage.  That way it doesn't get knocked around.  I have a rolling 3-tier wire rack ($8 at Wal-mart) which fits perfectly in my pantry.  I keep coffee, spices, boxed foods, etc in it.  There is a pvc pipe running up the back of my pantry that I just bungee it to so it doesn't roll out the door during travel (learned on first trip out).  We use refrigerator bars on the largest shelf in the fridge.  These things work well for us and we've had really good luck with the rubber liner for lots of stuff.

I have that waffley stuff too, my pans are stacked inside each other. My cabinet over the stove/sink, do not really have a lot of canned goods, I keep a coule of cans of beef stew, canned beans, and of course pie filling. Most of the rest is cereal, oatmeal, instant grits, and other such goodies that is NOt heavy. I keep the sugar, flour, dried beans, coffee and other stuff in a 2 drawer Sterlight thingee, that is brought outside when camping, it stays in front of the cabinet by the door, and stays closed by parking it with the drawers on the "wall" of the small dinette.
My fridge has long since lost a couple of those plastic sticks that hold it closed, so I secure the fridge when traveling with my power chill cooler parked up against it.
My "large" wardrobe has 4 sterlight drawers, one for each of our closthes and one for mugs, instant coffee clothes pins, etc.
My small part over the heater holds one of the small sets of drawers that hold misc. stuff.
Toaster, coffee maker, can opener, and one or two other small appliances goes under the heater I ahve enough so they are in tight, do not want to put a cooler in front of that, the pump switch is there and has gotten turned on in transit.

I added some additional shelves to the panty in our Kiwi so more can items could be placed on them and avoid double stacking.

i keep my glasses and mugs in the over head over the sink, while traveling i push them to the back, put a couple dish towels over them. i put my extra roll of paper towels in front and on top, i put two screws on the inside of the cabinet and i use a bungi to hold it snug, so they don't push the door open. i put paper plates in between my glass dishes, and they are stored in the draw, and my pot holders and bag of napkins to cover my silverware in the other draw. in the pantry i use a spring rod to hold everything in, and the same with the fridge. the medience cabinet i install baby bungi's to hold everything in.  pots and pans under sink, fit snug, and i keep the tin foil etc, in there too, we installed baby latches in the two draws so they don't open in travel. the tv is on the in the bathroom with the throw rug for added padding.
