Will you be planning long distance or local trips for 2004

I'm already planning and dreaming of trips for next year.  We'd like to go back to Gettysburg and also visit Amish country.  Trying to convince hubby to have Santa bring me a nice new truck for Christmas!!  Well even new-used would be good!  I thought about an SUV but I really like my DH's pickup but I'd rather get a quad cab vs. extended cab so the kids have some room to stretch out.  Never thought I'd want to have a pickup for myself, but after being in a car accident this past summer in the minivan, I want to be up higher than other cars and fenders for sure!!  Inside of DH's truck is nicer than my minivan.  Oh and did I say I wanted a red one!!!  Can use that to tow to Gettysburg!!

I started putting plans together for a spring camping trip 2 months ago, and still have that slated to go for Easter weekend near Richmond for any PUT/PUX people that would like to come. See the Virginia Camping section for more info on that.

We're making reservations for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends by the end of the month, all of them for Ocean Waves Campground on the NC Outer Banks. I'm hoping to get a trip into New England this summer too, and that'll be my long trip...just haven't worked that one out yet!

I guess most of our trips will be fairly local, while Holly is in school year round/week round.

However, I am going to try to get to some more TPUC trips, including the men-only trip. Also, if the Eastern Rally falls on a bad week for Holly, I guess I'll be coming alone, unless I can find someone to go with me.

Larry there should be a whole group of PU camper to go with you to the rally. :D

We will have a mix of both.

For Memorial Day, Labor Day and one other weekend we will be camping at RB Winter SP, PA.  Less than 20 miles each way.

Our first trip will be to Assateague Island National Seashore, MD for Easter.  It is 300 miles each way.

In May we are going to North-South SP, NY.  It is 250 miles each way.

In July the Rally??? Maybe?

August we will be going to Acadia NP, Maine.  650 miles each way.

August Letchworth SP, NY.  I forget how far it is, but in the 200 miles each way.

September/October (still voting) Hickory Run SP, PA.  It is about 65 miles from our home.

It should be a busy camping summer.  There are also Boy Scout trips mixed in there too. :)

I think any long distance trips will be out for this coming year.   But, we're looking forward to spending more time with our friends and family close to home.   After spending the last few years with health problems that kept me from doing too much of anything I was really looking forward to getting back into the camping mode, and feeling good.   Well, I feel much better, and am able to do much more than I could for quite a while.   In fact, being able to camp for almost a whole week for the opening of deer season was a test for me.   The cold did bother me some, but it wasn't unbearable, and now I know that I can do it again.   But, the economy and medical expenses have hit us hard, like many of you, so we won't do anything that costs lots of money tile we are more secure that the money is there.

For long distance I guess my trip from Maine to Fort Wilderness CG in Disney should count. Other than that probably mostly local.

We are going to Gulf Shores AL over the Christmas week from Nashville, TN.  This will be the last trip of this "season" for us I think.  Looking forward to March so we can start again with the Normal Season...

We're in the process of planning two big trips.  In March we are traveling to Albuquerque and meeting friends from the west coast with a stop in the Palo Duro Canyon on the way back.  In July we are taking 22 days to travel north stopping in Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Ontario, New York, Ohio, Kentucky and Arkansas.

I am also hoping to get in a bunch of long weekends where we are camping within a 150 miles of home this summer.
