You must have all done it!  DH and I were discussing the other night our re-wrapping techniques I was pretty bad at it and tried to re-tape right over the old tape - didn't work!  DH used to remove the bottem of the zipper of the suitcase the gifts were in then put it back together!  Pretty crafty!  Any other good re-wrapping techniques?

PS - don't let the kids read this!

Depending on the paper, you can just cut off the old tape and put on new.  Otherwise, you need some of the original paper to make a patch and use tape over it.  Sometimes a little glue stick works better on some of the stuff.  It's best to have the patch or new tape on the bottom.

Oh no...not me!  One Christmas...the year I was 12 I believe, I found every single Christmas present my parents had bought for me.  It was exciting at the time, but on Christmas morning, I knew what was in all the boxes.  It took away so much of the fun that I have never even been tempted to look again. DH just tells me now where he has hidden my presents and not to look there until he gets everything wrapped. He knows there is no way I will look.

One time I actually matched up the same box my friend had to see if it matched - and it did!  It was a Barbie kitchen, and the oven had a little "timer" that "dinged" when the door shut.  Well, I tipped the gift around and around looking for a possible conspicoius opening and all of a sudden I heard the familiar"ding".  I was SOOOO excited, and it was still by favorite gift even though I knew what was in it!  After a while my Mom got smart and kept the gifts over my Grandparents house til Christmas Eve!

I have to say I like the element of surprise WAY more than I would like to know what I'm getting ahead of time, so I never look.  BUT, I have wrapped a gift and then discovered I needed to put something inside (gift receipt or batteries).  I would use a razor blade knife and slit the tape right along the seam, open the box, put in what was missing and re-wrap it like nothing ever happened.  Of course, once you put ribbon on it, there's no way of re-using that -- or is there???  :XMas

An iron set on the low setting will get rid of those kinks and wrinkles in the ribbons so you can re-use them ;)
