It was not the most expensive but our favorite is a framed picture of my step son and his family.

Actually, the greatest thing I got for Christmas, was watching the kids tear open their stuff, seeing their excitement and joy at the new stuff. As for actual material things... can't say as I got that much. but if I gotta choose one, it would be the Solar Path Lights the kids got for me and my camper!

I'm with Gone-Camping, even tho there were several wonderful gifts, nohing compares to having all the kids and grandkids home, with food a plenty and wrapping paper flying and everybody laughing and talking at once.   It doesn't get any better than that.

I think the best non-material gift I got was seeing how happy Holly was with the freezer.

The best gift(s) I got were the watch Holly gave me, and the quilt my grandmother made for us. The pattern is Bride's Bouquet.

As a side note, I hope to have pictures of my granny's other quilts that are available for sale. I have offered to put them on my website with pictures and prices. Mom is working on taking some pictures and sending them to me.

well, I FINALLY got the gifts I wanted most of all and have shamelessly hinted to my family about  for  over a year.

They gave "me"  two  hives of bees and a goat and a pair of rabbits!  They went in my name to  the Heifer Project so they could provide them for some  third world families.

I am going to give our kids some Heifer Project chickens  for Valentine's Day instead of the   box of chocolates we usually have delivered to them.

Larry, I LOVE  the  way you described  this.  "Honorary chicken gifters"  !!  And BTW, so happy to learn of Holly's  delight with her wonderful new freezer.  it was fun for all of us to be a part of it with our remarks and opinions.  I still remember how thrilled I was with ours and what a great contribution it made to our mealtimes and my ability to be more creative in my cooking and baking.

( Christmas morning, we were talking about what fun it is to participate in The Heifer Project and 15 year old Hannah (the DGD) observed with dry humor so  typical of her, "Yes, but it isnt nearly as enjoyable for the animals you give, you know--eventually, all they are going to do is eat them."

My favorite gift was something I totally wasn't expecting.  After fighting with my Mom during  December  :(  I found myself with a deep appreciation of how my mother IN-LAW does things during the holidays.  I tend to take her for granted, she's ALWAYS there if I need her to watch the kids, even at a moments notice.  I try to be considerate of her plans too, and if she's doing something I'll find someone else.  I really apprerciate how she tries to make everybody feel special during the holidays, even if it's just a gift from the dollar store you know she was thinking of you.  I'm really thankful I have this perspective on her.

Aside from that my DH bought me a sewing machine, which I love and was NOT expecting!   :)

My favorite gift this year was given to me by my new fiance.....a beautiful diamond engagement ring, platinum with 18K gold accents.  It looks like the Banjo picker and I will be getting married sometime in 2004.  It was a wonderful suprise on Christmas Eve.:M :)

Starcraft Dad

Well to be honest, it is a once in a lifetime gift. My dad passed away a couple of years ago. My mom had the "Imperial Princess" and only used it once since dad has gone. She wanted to keep it in the family so she gave it to my family. It's a 1999 in perfect condition and is 42 feet long. You can see her here:

I miss my dad very much, but it is nice having something of his that he loved so much.

Congratulations, B-flat! I know you are sooooo happy and excited! Holly and I won't be newlyweds anymore (officially) on March 2, 2004 (2 years), so we need some more newlywed blood around here! Maybe YOU can go to Hawaii on your honeymoon and post from your hotel room to PUT like I did!

StarcraftDad, glad you were able to keep something of your dad's to help remember him. We hope you don't disappear to a boating board though!
