Anyone going this weekend ?

griffsmom

I wish we were, but it's a bit of a drive. ;)    I've been eyeing the Starcraft Antigua and Travelstar hybrid travel trailers.     Luke, I am your sister...;)

Guess I'll have to wait until October when a big RV show comes to Pomona. :(

Go if you must, princess.Perhaps you can infiltrate the dark side, and send us some information. Then turn the Gov loose on 'em.Just remember your roots!Kidding,of course-We are going this weekend for probably some of the same reasons that you are going to Pomona in October-but we are looking to downsize.Small is beautiful ! We hope to check out Chalets,or Aliners .Pop ups with insulation, and hard walls ! Sounds like a good mix to us.
PS-Have not been to Pomona in 35 years. Is it still that cow town out in the country where the LA County Fair is held? I believe that I went to a FFA function there while in high school.

LOL! :D

When DH and I were looking at the hybrids, there were a couple of Chalets and we couldn't resist checking them out.  They were very cool, and if it were just the two of us, it would be doable.  But with a 3 y/o, especially our 3 y/o, no way!

Pomona has changed quite a bit since you were there 35 years ago.  The LA County Fair is still held at the fairgrounds, but the cows have moved mostly to Corona (as in Norco, not Del Mar).  There are still a few pockets that are okay, but Pomona now mostly consists of the homeboys taking each other out, and far too often, innocent bystanders with them. :(

So...see anything good? :)

We enjoyed the show, but feel that pop ups were under represented.I think we saw about a dozen models. We really did like the Chalets, and will probably purchase one soon. Our children are grown up,and live away from home-so,mucho space is not an issue.Still have some questions that we intend to ask to the dealer next week. Then, there is the matter of selling our Starcraft 2108(with cassette porta-potty and shower).Any offers out there?

PS-We walked around Pleasanton a bit-It's a nice little town.

I grew up in Pleasanton. It's a nice little town of about 60,000 people ;) . I remember it when there was 12,000. Used to play golf at the 9-hole course inside the racetrack.

Popups used to be much better represented there: Starcraft, Jayco, Coleman, etc., but that was at least 5 years ago if not more.

The experience of suburban population explosion and sprawl is common to most of us native and long time Californians. The first population figure for
the entire state that I remember was about 8 1/2 million. What is it now? 32 Million, I believe. So many impacts,in so many ways. That is one of the reasons that Mary and I are moving to the mountains and forests of Arizona when we retire in a couple of years.
Pleasanton still has its beauty.Still some open space and natural features, but, ironically, what we liked the most was the historic district.
Regarding the show-Though we did not see many pop up tent trailers, I think we found what we want as our next rv.I guess that the show still works for some of us.Not a bad place to pick up some useful ideas, too.
Good hearing from you again !
