A coworker moved up North last year for a promotion with the same company.  I sent him an e-mail earlier today, with a picture from one of our camping trips.  He said the temperature was 7 degrees this morning, with snow expected (again) towards the end of the week.

I picked the last of the tangerines off our tree yesterday, and juiced them tonight.  The opening of camping season must be an exciting time for many of you.  We really don't have a season here.  You either need A/C desparately, or a little heat.  Very little in between.

Ah, life is good in paradise.  Ya'll come on down and thaw out for a while.

 :p

Robert, you are really twisitng the knife, you bad boy!  My parents  lived in Coral Gables and we also picked tangerines and oranges from the trees--my sadistic mother loved to send pictures of us doing that to her Illinois farm brothers, who had to trudge through 2 or 3 feet of snow to get to the mailbox.  (Cruel!)

Several years ago, I was in Tucson with oldest DD's family visiting her inlaws.  They had had snow that night, so Christmas Day we went out and picked bushels of ripe tangerines and tangelos from the trees around their pool.  (It was the best citrus fruit I ever ate!).  And this was the most  totally surreal experience I ever had.

We haven't decided on whether to take our yearly trek down to Palm Coast, FL for Super Bowl with BFs old band buddy.  You can be sure we will get some of the super concentrated Vit-C while we are there.  A friend had just brought us some FL fruit from her visit.  I guess I could return the favor if we make it to FL  It depends on work and this time we camp in a house right with sailing yacht docked out back on the water.

Hi Robert,

I'm right there with ya.  I'm eating one of the tangalows that I got off my tree right now.....very juicy...loL!

And looking forward to starting my camping time.

Today it's in the 60's, but at night.....low 30's.  brrrr.

It's a little after 8 PM here, it's 49 degrees outside.  I just took the Yakima rack off my truck as it whistles on the hwy when nothing is loaded on it.  I have a meeting in Orlando tomorrow, so off it comes.  I was wearing shorts and short sleeves when I was outside.  Nice weather!

Alas, the tangerines are gone.  Now I must move on to the grapefruit.  The peaches are now out of season, and the mango and orange trees need another year to grow.

This is a great time of year to camp here if anyone is looking for a road trip.  Temps are mild, no bugs.

While it rarely works out, we do get reservations for camping almost every month.  This month's trip already got canned due to family illness, but we're going next month... and again the next month...

Like I said, y'all come on down and thaw out!  Camping doesn't have to be seasonal.  I'm sure I'll get pity during June, July, and August, when the mosquitoes are thick, and I'm suffering heat stroke from cutting my lawn every 4-5 days.   ;)

While I miss camping right now and am having terrible withdrawals... I must admit, I couldn't do without the change of seasons. I was born in Jacksonville, FL and lived there several years (visited family there for many years) and also lived in Hawaii for 3 years and I still wouldn't trade for either of them and have to give up the season changes.   I love snuggling in the house with a good book on a snowy day, warm homemade soup or stew cooking on the stove, or taking a walk at night when it's snowing and hearing the crunch of fresh fallen snow.   Of course, I still think about the first day that it'll be warm enough to get that camper out again!  LOL

By the way, love your pictures.  I'm orginally from Detriot Michigan, so it was nice to see pictures of Houghton Lake, etc.  Thanks! :)

Seasons are nice to visit, but wouldn't want to live there.  :p

I've lived in England and Michigan... which is why I live in FL now.  Next fall we may go up to NC to see the colors, and that'll get it out of my system for a while.

Yeah right, if an offer came in, you'd take it in a heart beat -- at least if you didn't have to re-locate that is.

For a good offer I surely would relocate, especially quickly if it came from warm and sunny Florida :) or GA, or TN, or VA, or CA, or somewhere abouts :)

I like having the four seasons. Having one season that allows you to camp all of the time would be like having Christmas every day. Wouldn't be as special nor much to look forward to.

I live in Maine and I usually camp about 30+ nights per year. That is probably as much or more than some of the people that have year 'round camping weather. I may complain about the cold weather sometimes but I suppose no more than southerners complain about the heat.

I may just walk down to then end of my street and strap my ice skates on and head down the river. A lot of deer and other wildlife on the river banks. Of course we could just go skiing and while we are sitting in the lodge after we get done, we could talk about how much fun it will be in the upcoming camping season. Sure glad I have the 4 seasons.

Bob, I'd be with you in a minute, my inlaws in Lakeland are always begging us to move down with them. Problem is while I hate winter, my heart hates heat and humidity worse. If I was rich instead of handsome I'd have a place in the Adirondacks on a lake from May 1 to Oct1 and a place on the coast or a lake down there for the winter.
