I got a call from, owner of Oak Grove Campground in Imnottell'n,TN. He wants to offer anyone showing up at the right coordinates a free stay at his campground.
If we can get this going it'll be fun!

Let me know what you think and we'll make it a regular section in the magazine.

This sounds like fun, when, how and where do we start?

We have one.  Let us have some more information. :)

Cool.

You could even add another twist... have a geocaches hidden at participating campgrounds, and only have the coordinates available to PUT subscribers...  Find the cache, keep the goodies, get your mug posted in the geocaching section of the magazine.

Maybe get the sponsors of the magazine to put up some goodies.  Put a coupon for said goodie in a geocache, let the fun begin.

I've been a lurker on the GPS forum for a while.  Sometimes the GPS coordinates are only part of the puzzle.  That may take you to a spot where you have to use the published clues to figure out the next step.  May take a few steps and creative thinking, to get to the final coordinates.

Oh yea, I have two GPS units.  One will be up for sale soon, the other is an Etrex Legend.  Next month, I'll sell enough stuff on Ebay to pay for an iQue 3600.  Luv them toyz.

I have a Magellan Meridian Platinum that I bought last year because I wanted to Geocache. I started caching last May & whenever we go camping I look for caches close to the campsite. This is a great hobby and it takes me & my family to places I would have never known existed.

Thanks for adding a topic for this. I'll be checking this one daily.

Great new forum and great idea for the board as well as the mag.  I hope it results in some additional subscribers for you Dave.   :D

We don't geocache (yet?) but it sounds very cool.  May just have to start--a treasure hunt beats a snipe hunt anyday!  Hey Rich, maybe you can give a demo (like Moose's DO demo) on Geocaching at the next rally! ;)

Sounds like fun! I hope some participating sponsors/cg's will be near me soon!

Just got a Garmin IQUE3600 for my husband for christmas.  We haven't had much time to play with it, but what we did do with it impressed us.  I got more memory for the PDA so now I can download tons more maps.  Can't WAIT to use it more!

Sounds like fun to me. I'd love to do it. Maybe Yucaipa in March :)

We can't make that rally :(   What about Pismo in June :D

I always take my GPS with me camping. There's a lot of caches up in the SLO county area & Pismo as well. We can cache there!

How about a GeoRally? Like sometime this Spring - after I get my camper.

     Here's My ideal.
You'll be given 2 Coordinates to your Geocamp'
The first cache is for the location!  Opp's
The gate's Locked!  Your second Cache will be to find a box.
In the box you'll find..A Key!  a disposable camera!  a map where to set up.
A log in book. and a list of local geocaches.

After your setup, take a photo ,stay the night!
 Enjoy the local cache's
Can we make this work?   any suggestion's

Great Idea!!! I began geocaching after I read about it in Pop Up Times.  I quickly found the //www.geocaching.com site & joined.  I am also known as kaaljonesfamily there.  We have two caches & two travel bugs.

Before we go camping (or on any trip), I look up possible caches.  I usually take my son & daugher while my wife does some of the things she likes to do.

We have just a simple garmin eTrex ($99), & it does a good job.  You may be able to find a used one on ebay that may be a better value.
