Quote from: OC CampersMike, I am sad to hear you won't make it to Pismo.  We all had such a great time together.   I am glad that Mark and Tylor enjoyed camping, even though Mark had to do the dishes.  How's the thumb?  Were you able to go to work?  I think the sausage and peppers was the best I have ever had.  I again wanted to thank you for the wagonmaster gift.  The kids and I have already polished off the chocolates and Randy and I will open the champagne soon.  The kids also enjoyed the bingo and prizes.

Jacqui

Hiya Jacqui,

Not a worry on my finger. I did work and all is very very good with my finger. I am pleased that the kids as well as the adults enjoyed their winnings.  This is something I like to do and will always do.

If something changes,,, maybe we can sneak in at the last moment. I will try hard to make it work. Thank YOU for being YOU.

Jacqui,

Check out this article on Blood Sausage.  I think Mikey invented an American version.  Hope he never has to repeat it.

Scott,

I was married to an Englishman for 6 years and it's not called blood sausage. It's "black pudding" as if calling it that could make it less vile. He made it for me for breakfast once without telling me what it was. I took a bite and could only say "bloody hell" before I spit it out. My MIL did not look kindly upon her Yank of a DIL after that....:yikes:

Yes it is called Black Pudding across the pond, and we can even buy it locally here. I would take some to Pismo, but what's the point of wasting good pudding on "Americans" who'd only spit it out;)

Bubble and squeak, toad in a hole, mushy peas, bangers and mash, steak and kidney pie, Cornish pasties, digestive biscuits, clotted cream and scones, Branson's pickle, golden treacle, a PULLED pint or PROPERLY brewed pot of tea--those are palatable, even delicious, edibles that should be exported from Britain, but black pudding you can keep. :p

Okay, even though everyone has summarized this mini-rally wonderfully, I'll take a turn too and give a shout out to all my peeps. ;)

Friday dawned overcast and stayed that way until we finally hit Malibu city limits around 12:30 pm. It gradually started to clear and the weekend's weather couldn't have been more coorperative--each day just dawned clearer and brighter than the day before!

It was wonderful seeing everyone again, and getting to meet Mikey, Corey, Mark and Tyler! Hopefully, we'll get to meet Delisa soon! Simi Rich and Tamara were great sports when we all pulled up a chair and a cold one to watch them back (push?) in and set up Friday night. We were all further rewarded for staying up late that night when the 5-er pulled in around 1 am and almost took out Jacqui's picnic table backing in! Good thing we moved it--he would have never been able to pull out his slide out and take up half her site if we didn't!

Saturday was a blast--from playing bingo both with the kids and then later with the adults (Mikey, thanks for being such a kid at heart!) to playing on the beach to welcoming our non-rally attendees Scott and Georgeanne to having some absolutely marvelous food. We upheld the traditions of the potluck with too much food and all of it great! Judging by the DO dishes on the table, even if Moose and Paula couldn't be there in person, they were certainly there in spirit! A very special thanks to Tamara for making the Chocolate Lover's DO Delight in honor of Dave's birthday. It was spoon-licking good! ;) Tam--would you post that recipe? It was awesome regardless of how awful it looked before you cooked it! Mikey, the red, white and blue cobbler recipe is in the recipe forum. It's one of Moose's concoctions, so you know it has to be good.

Sunday turned out to be a repeat of Saturday--good food, good times, and good company. Plus, there's just something special about waking up on Sunday morning and knowing that you don't have to pack up and go home!!!  The beach was beautiful and Griffin could not have had morew fun getting splashed and tackled by Luke! We really enjoyed getting to make even more friends--does anyone realize that all of us had non-attending guests at Sunday's potluck?! (except Mikey who brought his guests with him and made them camp!:) ) That's a sure fire sign of a good rally as far as I'm concerned--when peope who aren't even camping with you come for the food and the company. And how about when one of the new friends that you make just happens to know and work with one of your neighbors--trippy!;) The fireworks were icing on the cake--the ones in the sky, not the ones between Griffin and Maffew!! :yikes: :banghead: :eyecrazy: Later that evening, it was cute watching the big boys take bathroom break after bathroom break during poker and get the giggles after the cg regime told them to keep it down because he could "hear" them all the way down the road. I guess he was just "ignoring" the offer to buy into the game....? ;)

We also enjoyed meeting Steve and his wife Gina, who had a pop up over on the ocean view side (and graciously let Dave, Griffin and I crash their site to watch the fireworks!) and telling them about PUT, SCC and our upcoming rallies. As much as we tried to talk them into joining us for our potlucks, they already had other plans, but hopefully, we'll be seeing them on the boards here and at some of the future rallies. Aaahh, two more unsuspecting victims....uh, I mean, campers for the PUT cult, uh, I mean, pop up culture...;)

We normally don't camp over Memorial Day weekend, partly because the "non-campers" are usually out and also b/c of Dave's birthday. But we had such a wonderful time this year, that this could become a tradition. Dave asked me to let you all know again that he was touched by everyone's thoughtfulness and he thanks you all for helping him to celebrate his birthday in style this year. He promises to break out his new Margarita bar at Pismo!

I'll try to upload some of the pics that Dave took. What a great weekend--thanks again everyone for making it so awesome!!!

I especially love the sequence of Matthew and Griffin's battle over the chair :)

OC Campers

Lori, the shots of the boys fighting over the chair are priceless.  I will have to remember next time I go to Walmart and buy camping toys to buy 2 of everything.  2 bubble blowers, 2 shovels, 2 chairs etc.

Aren't they a crack up!?  You know, of course, that buying 2 of everything won't change a thing.  Each boy will still want the one that the other one has and will fight over that. :banghead:

Tamara,

I meant to post that I got your voicemail on my cell yesterday and it solved the mystery for Dave and I.  We couldn't figure out why you were going back down Kanan toward PCH!

We drove past at least 3 CHP trucks who had stopped other cars, and then right before we got to the series of the three tunnels, a police car went whipping by us at about 80 mph, but no one said boo to us about not being allowed to drive through the canyon with our trailer.  We finally reached the Ventura fwy and continued on our merry way home.  It's weird too, because we hadn't wanted to go that way, but we couldn't find anywhere to make a U-turn to go back south down PCH!

Not to upsurp Tamara, but I posted the recipe. I know it looks ugly when making it, but it is really yummy. The belt is getting too tight thinking about all this food.

Thanks for posting the recipe for me.  This was the exact one, however I got it off "Byron's Dutch Oven Recipes".  No more searching for recipes, I'm just going straight to you!:)  Have you ever thought of publishing a book?

You are not allowed to travel through Kanan with a tent trailer ??? That is news to me. WOW.. I hope no one got cited.
