Yesterday the power went off in my area for 6 hours.  I brought my Buddy Heater into the house and fired it up.  It sure was nice to be in a warm room and not have to have layers of clothing on.  We ate snack food, but I could used the Coleman stove or the propane grill if we needed a hot meal.  Having camping equipment on hand makes things like power outages much more enjoyable.  DS wanted me to hook the power inverter to one of the camper batteries so he could watch TV, but I thought we could use the time to play some games instead.  Jeesh the things kids learn from camping.:)

are they certified to be used indoors ? Is this the one working with the small propane tanks ? How long does one small tank last ?

Yes they are designed to be used indoors.  A 1 pound tank will last about 6 hours on low and about 3 hours on hi.

we did that when we had the big power outage last summer, we had the lanterns, and the 12volt fan, which we used the power pack from the air compressor to power, we had our radio, and of course our lap tops! so we were set! we hung the lanterns over the dinning room ceiling fan, use the oil lamp, and candle lantern in the bathroom , so we sat around and played dominos and cards

I really like my buddy heater.  It is just right for the camper & we too used it in our home last winter during a power outage.  It has a low oxygen safety shut-off, but I still use a battery CO monitor with it.

We tap it onto a big propane tank for camping, but do keep a couple of 1 lb tanks on hand (had to use on our last trip when my regular tank ran out!)

Yep, last year Hurricane Isabel left us without power for 6 days!! While there was no way to power the A/C which is what I really would liked to have, the camping equipment made things really easy for us. We had coolers to store the drinks, the big refrige in the Hybrid to store the food plus it has a freezer too. Lanterns for lighting, and yes...the battery and inverter to get daily news & weather reports. Oh, and having a full bathroom in the trailer helped too, the people next door were delighted when after 5 days had gone by, I offered to let them each take a quick shower in my trailer!!!!

I guess they won't be complaining about your camper being parked in your yard.
