Well, lets just say I'm moving out of Nova Scotia sometime this summer.
 
Some of you will remember that I am a Registered Nurse within the Canadian Forces.  Each and every year, we get together with our career managers and hash out long and short term career plans.  I just got home after meeting with mine, and was informed that I will be posted to one of three locations.
 
The choices were Winnipeg, Manitoba (or winterpeg as we like to call it), Wainwright, Alberta or perhaps Edmonton, Alberta.  The farthest is about ten days driving from where I am right now.  The shortest about six days driving.
 
I know we have had a few members on this board from out west, but I can't remember who they were.
 
If I get Alberta... I will have the Canadian Rockies to Camp in!!!  Anyone from out that way have any info about any of those places?

Dont' know if I should congratulate you or cry for you.... seems like you will be going a far distance.  Will this be taking you farther or closer to family?

So far I'm not crying... but I'll let you know if it's a tear jerker or not...  About the family thing... mine are all located in Ontario... which would be a little farther away than they are right now.  DW's family are all here (bad thing) except for her brother & his wife who live in Edmonton...(good thing) which would certainly be a lot closer.

Biggest problem is... I won't know how long it will be before I find out which place it will be.  I suspect that my subscription to the boards will run out before I get the posting message.... nothing can happen until I have that iin my hand.

Wow!  That's quite a potential move!  I'm one of the members from the western US (Montana).... the northern rockies are great!!  Welcome!!  Plenty of new camping experiences on the horizon!!!

Thanks for the friendly welcome! I have really been looking forward to a move for some time now... and was crossing my fingers and toes to get Edmonton, Alberta. I doubt that that will be the choice I end up with. Sounded a lot like it was going to be Wainwright... which is still in Alberta... and closer to the Rockies than Winnipeg.
 
The only problem with Wainwright is the utter desolution of the place. Nothing there but farmers fields. The closest big city would be Edmonton... 2 hours drive away. But Edmonton does have the largest mall in the whole world!
