Quote from: HoosierpopHey kids, Been awhile since I've logged on, much to my surprise you're planning t-shirts for October. Why wait for tomorrow, eh. Anyhow, I'm the one that came up with last year's design. I can fiddle with it after we get back from our Florida vacation. If black is too hot, I suggest grey, maybe a light faded purple. Thoughts? To keep the cost down maybe the same image as last year only on the front with type changes that reflect the second annual event.
I think a heather gray might be nice or even a blue of some sort.  I agree, the black is a little warm and white is not a winner in our house.  A faded purple would be pretty for the gals but my "manly man" might complain a little.  I can hear it already, " will this go with blue jeans?"  We will go with what ever everyone else wants.

While driving home tonight, I heard on the news that there is a fire out in Temecula, in the Vail Lake area. Residents off the 79 around the Pauba Road area (which you cross on the 79 to get to VLR) were under voluntary evacuation.

I sure hope that the fire fighters are able to get this one under control quickly. It's so brown out there and it's been so dry and rainless of late. Fire season has come early this year. :(

When we started home yesterday from VLR Paul noticed a plume of smoke over a hill ahead of us and commented it must be a fire. Odd it's that close to where we were!

And we really liked VLR. Thanks for the info, Lori. We had a great time!

BTW, I started to E-mail you that we were going to join you, had a site picked out, ready to hit the send button, when I decided I better check my date book.  My 20 year class reunion is the same weekend!  So Paul said I had to choose.  Sorry guys.  I'll have to miss this one.  I think Paul would rather take the kids and go to VLR with you and let me go alone to my reunion.

I saw a report on TV Monday night that said 30% of VLR burned.  I just caught the end of the report but I think the TV crew was interviewing the VLR's owner.

:(

Its a sad thing.  Anyone hear anything?

On last night's 11 o'clock news, I had heard the news crew interviewing Rick the owner.  He had said about 1,000 acres of VLR's total 5,000 had burned.  It also sounded like he was pretty angry about the whole thing, because he had tried to clear that area but was stopped by environmentalists who intervened to prevent him from doing so.

It is very sad.  I'll call them once the fire is under control and see how things are.

As far as t-shirts are concerned, did anyone else see this post over in the classifieds section?  http://www.arveeclub.com/showthread.php?t=51826

It is sad that VLR is burning.  I really enjoyed it last year and am/was looking forward to visiting there again.  I attempted to call today and the phone just rang and rang.  I was wondering if there was even a phone to answer there.  I do hope that most of VLR stays in tact.  I just think it's sad that people start fires (I'm not sure how this fire started) but it affects many people.  Wildlife dies and nature is disturbed and there is lots of monetary loss and the firefighters are pushed to limit to save as many things that they can.

I too was saddened when the land around Julian was burning.  DH & I stayed at a B&B for our 1st anniversary and it's very sentimental to me.  Luckily, the firefighters were able to keep the town intact.

Kim,

Which B&B did you go to?  Our friends owned a B&B that we'd get away to about once a year.  It burned to the ground.  They're rebuilding.  It's amazing how much closer you look at the news reports when you know people in the affected area.  The same fires were threatening another CG we like in Valley Center called Woods Valley Kampground.

I'm not sure of the name but I think "Orchard" is part of it.  I remember it was at the end of a street and was a wonderful and romantic place to stay.  Fortunately, this BB didn't burn, it was spared but one of the employees' house was caught up in the blaze.

I contacted VLR today and they are up and running.  The campsites and village are still in tact and according to the person I spoke with she was happy that not much of the property was lost.  YEH!!!!

Quote from: griffsmomHey everyone!  :W

Can you believe that it's already time to start thinking about our Halloween rally again?   :D   Vail Lakes Resort books sites no ealier than 6 months in advance.  Remember, they sell out quickly, and it might be nice to reserve the sites in Chardonnay Mesa this year.  If so, April is the month for us to act!  For those of you who missed our First Annual Trick-or-Treat in Temecula, you can visit the http://www.Sccampers.org and click on the past rallies link.  You can also check out VLR's site: http://www.vaillakeresort.com

My guess is that VLR's Halloween Festival will be held the last three weekends of October, like it was last year.  We were there the first weekend, which I thought worked out well for the kids, as it spread Halloween out that much longer for them.  I suggest that we have this rally the weekend of 10/15-17/04.  I'm happy to make the reservations, but I'll need to know approximately how many sites to reserve.  Post here if you'd like to attend.

:Z Boo!

Hi Sue!

That's great that you will be joining us in Temecula in October!!  We look forward to meeting you!  I have sent you an e-mail detailing how reservations for this rally work.  If you have any additional questions, feel free to post them here or e-mail me.  I check these boards at least once a day (;) lol) and my e-mail every couple of days.

griffsmom

Sue,

I got your check--THANKS!  I wanted to double check the site you selected to make sure that it would be a good one for you--a couple of the roads are really busy with cars driving by, especially with all the holiday activites going on during this weekend.  Did you have kids and if so, what are their ages?  You can e-mail me the info if you are not comfortable posting it here on the boards.:)
