With one month to go, maybe it's time we start looking at the Pot Luck and figuring out who's going to bring what?!?!

Oh, last years Spring Fling someone put together an easter egg hunt for the little ones. Seems that went over real well with the kids, looking for a volunteer to put another one into motion.

Louise, will they let me set-up some horse shoe poles there???

(EDIT: moved here for better exposure)

The following was posted over at PUT, and copied over here for everyones benefit....

[indent]quote: Cliff,

The open field area in front of site 42 would work well for a horseshoe tournament. I'll get the staff to mark the septic area so we won't interfere with that.

I think at this point, everyone should e-mail me with their reservation number and last name. One HUGE problem that we had at Westmoreland was that we had some no-shows...and I couldn't tell who they were because all I had was popuptimes Arvee Club names for everybody. It took me an hour with the Park Staff to figure out which 2 people had cancelled with the reservation center and not told me.

PLease e-mail this info. to stateparkgrl@aol.com sometime within the next week. When we mark the sites to hold, I will post both your last name AND your Arvee Club names on the site posts. I have gotten permission to close off and hold the "C" loop (sites 42 - 54), and then will mark the closest 8 sites to those that are available. Please understand that this may be hard...Chesterfield County has their spring break the week BEFORE Easter...so the campground will likely be busy all week before our group gets there. If someone sets up on sites 42-54 early in the week and is staying through Easter weekend, there won't be alot I can do about it.

The up side is that because of how the campground is designed, we will all be close no matter where we are. And I would rather hold someone a GOOD site than a close one.

As for the Pot Luck...lets get a list going. Remember that the building that we have reserved has a HUGE kitchen...so electricity or cooking areas is not a problem. Shall we also all bring our own plates, utensils, and drinks like before? I think that worked good.

Another issue I need to know is if the group wants some type of Interpretive program (like the fossil program we had at Westmoreland) while you are here. We offer guided hikes both during the day and at night. The cost would be minimal - but we need to decide so that I can talk to the Interpreter about it.

Cliff,
You can put any recreational activities you want in the open field in front of site 43. There is a tree down in that area right now, but the rangers have PROMISED ME they would get it up by April.

One thing you may want to change AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Right now, we only have 3 of the 6 group sites reserved. This means that any other group of 3 people could end up right in the middle of our group. That just doesn't make sense to me...especially with the number of sites we are needing together.  Could you please call the reservation center and have three of the regular sites that are arriving on Friday transfered to the 3 group sites?  They should let you do it, even if they are made in three different names. If they give you a hard time, have them call me.

This will give us all 6 group sites, and make it MUCH EASIER to mark all the sites together on Friday the 9th. I would do it myself, but I'm not supposed to "cater" to campers (giving one group preference over another).

Thanks,

Louise

Hmmm, I'll see what I can do. Problem is, reservation center is only open while I'm working, and I don't have the computer handy to look all this up. Hmmmm...

Maybe I can copy what I need onto the laptop and bring that, I don't have a connection at work, but if I have it copied...hmmm will work it and see what happens.
