Roof seal gap question

Ever since I got my camper I have had a 1/8" - 1/4" gap between the roof seal and the camper body.  I live in the desert and my dealer is 90 miles away so there was not a lot of incentive to get it fixed.  (I know I could have had it done under warranty but I was busy camping both here and in Iraq.)   I ran a string and it is NOT the roof that is crooked, it is the body.  Has anyone had any experience shimming the top front body piece?

Jeff,

When the "gap in the front" ABS problems first arose, the FFT recomended procedure was to shim the box up to the roof.

I would give your dealer a call, I'm sure they have information on the procedure.

The dealer is putting a new gasket on for me on Thursday and I asked the guy if he could show/tell me how to do it but I wanted to here from someone here just to get their take on it.

I'm working the guy pretty hard so I am sure he will give me all the help he can but what is easy to do the 20th time is often a chore at first!

When my roof sag got bad enough that the front would not seal tight (it allowed water in), the dealer used 2 layers of the tape they seal truck caps to the truck body with.  I didn't have any leaks with the tape in use. :)

I got the gasket replace by the dealer today, no charge!  The tech showed me how to install a shim.  I spent about 4 hours doing the work and now have a nice, straight ABS top front piece.  There is a small part that I could not get to shim but I think some foam tape will take care of that.  If anyone is interested e-mail me and I will be glad to give a blow by blow account.
