We set up our Paha Que screen room the other day.  Low and behold there was a tick climbing on the side of it. :eyecrazy:   The last time we used the screen room was at Assateague Island National Seashore last summer.  There are a lot of ticks on the island and I am not surprised that we brought a tick home with us.  I am surprised that the tick survived the winter rolled up in the screen room in the trunk of our PU, in an unheated garage.  After the Paha Que was put away and I was walking home I found a second tick crawling on me. :yikes:   They are tough little buggers.

Just goes to show how strong those things are...:yikes:

I wanted to ask our vet if DH and I could use the Frontline Plus the pooch gets!  :D    If you see a tick on one of us, it's usually crawling, if you see one on the dog..it's dead.....

Tracy, you know in the Bible where it says, "And the meek shall inherit the earth," ?

Well, after mankind is all finished cutting down the rain forests, and  bombing and poisoning our Mother planet, all that will be able to survive will be things like ticks and spiders and houseflies.   :swear:  :Z

BTW, TODAY IS EARTH DAY!

Does anyone pay  attention to it anymore besides a few tree huggers?

Isn't the same as "arbor day"  growing up, on arbor day, everyone in school would receive a sapling to plant.  We could never get ours to grow:swear:

:eyecrazy: You had better check the label. ;)

I HATE those little bugs!!! :swear:   I've found them in the dryer after surviving the wash & dry cycles!  They are tenacious little things, aren't they?!

After I found them I started itching.  Then I had to do a "tick check" to make sure there weren't any more on me.  I kept feeling then crawling on me for the rest of the day. :yikes:

Isn't that always the way:swear:

It's my understanding that Ticks (& Flea's) can lay dormant for up to 2 years without feeding. I read this while researching flea problems for the dog. Beware, they are really hungry at this stage of the game too!!

We never camped anywhere where there were ticks I guess, How would we know if they are ticks ? DO they really attach themselves and stuff ? Sounds disgusting !

You camped in Virginia. Ticks are there, although they might have been a little sparse due to the cicadas.

Yes, they do attach themselves, and sometimes are difficult to get off without mangling them and leaving their head buried inside of you.

However, ticks don't bother me as much as they should, probably. I even view chiggers as a walk in the park now, after having a bad case of scabies about ten years ago (from a nursing home patient). Scabies will drive you to the funny farm.

Ewww, they were there ? What if they are attached to us or something ? Would we know ? It is high time I look them up on the net and check the kids and myself !!!!

Looked up scabies, sounds horrible ! Glad you are over it !

Birol if I knew you wanted one :yikes: , I would have mailed one of them to you. ;)
