Gone-Camping

Well, it such a nice day today, that I decided to get out and enjoy it. Wound up at Dodd RV seeing what was new for this year. What I ran into was something I looked at last year...still sitting there...unsold. I liked it then, and still like it now. A Coachman Chaperal Fiver, double oposing slides (one with the sofa & dinette, the other is the kitchen across from the other slide). This is a brand new, never had an owner 2003 model, and with the 2005's now starting to come out, this dealer really wanted to make a deal on this trailer, we're talking about $10,000 below the original list price, and still has new trailer warranty.

If there were someway I could pull that fiver with my Grand Cherokee I'd have signed on the dotted line this afternoon! Guess it's probably a good thing I haven't quite bought that F250 yet!!!

I know the feeling.  I've been drooling on some stuff on some selected websites of the local deelers.....spent a little time today looking at the interior photos online and deciding what I do and don't like inside. :)

Oh Stop  you two, what are you trying to do here ? Kill me or something ? Ok, now I am gonna go to Campkins and drool over the PU's they always leave them unlucked on weekends :)

Can I come along?  They do that on the local dealer lot about a mile down the road from the entrance to my community.  I have been there so many times looking that they are probably going to start charging me some rent. ;)   They also get a lot of nice trades and consignments.  I am sure I will break down some day and get a new TT. :D

:yikes:
I have been ordering hybrid brochures lately!  Please forgive me, I know not what I do.

Well, I still love my popup. But, we have the TT that our Jimmy can't tow sitting at a permanent campsite. If I could tow it, upon arriving at the destination the work would be backing in, leveling, chocking the wheels, un-hitching, plugging in the electric, water & sewage, opening the door, turning on the tv and relaxing with a cool drink. A far cry from the two (minimum) hours setup I go through with the Taos & all of Peggy's junk!  :(

:yikes: Danger! Will Robinson, Danger!    :yikes:

Cliff, you need to be extra careful around those places.  A Fiver is REALLLY the dark side.  The dark, DARK,  side ;)

And dont pay any attention to Al--he likes to blame all the "must-haves" on Peggy, but she told me herself  on the phone last night that HE is the one to blame! :-()  :-()  :-()

This is indeed a very very dark thread ! The core of our fiber is being threteaned by the dark creatures !  I am hoping that I will never ever get the dark disease ! The most I like are the hybrids though :) They are grey right ? :)

Cliff, The DARK SIDE has a lot of pull... COME on over..
really I was surprized as we walked and golf carted around Ocean Lakes last weekend that the wife asked what size 5er we could pull.. She likes the room..
I think we have all we need at this place in time. But I really enjoyed our set up.
We set up the same time as our friends who have a PU. We pulled on to our site and they did their's at the same time. We rode down to the beach together.
I was unhooked and hooking up the power cord for AC before he was unhooked. Power tongue jack helps here. I had the water hooked and the sewer also before he was cranked up. Once the sewer was hooked we slid the slide out.
I pulled the awning out and had 3 pieces of green carpet down. as he was finishing up the crank up and set up. I was under the awning with a cold drink before he even had his AC going. The wife was sitting next to me and said" I am sure glad we have this". and Leaving she told me the same thing as we watched them close it all up. I did not even count the unloading of his van with all the camping stuff(coolers, chairs, etc.) Everything for this trip was in the camper except the extreme coolers with drinks. Plus I had a fire ring and turkey cooker in the truck and never took out the cooker. So loading up was a breeze.
It gets better each time. But I still am a pop-upper at heart. No food was cooked in our camper. We still cook under the awning with griddle and butane cookers.

Well, I'm already half way there! I've got an 04 Trail Cruiser Hybrid now, but quite frankly, I'm giving some real serious consideration to Full Timing! I'm not ready to retire, but since I lost the house in the divorce a few years ago, the idea of buying another one now seems like a moot point, I'd still be making payments on it until I turn 80.

So maybe a Fiver that is big enough, and nice enough to live aboard, and I can sell all this junk I've dragged around for years and go live at the campground! It's an interesting thought, though I'm affraid it would take away my real desire to go camping. However, I do love to travel and explore new places, so maybe this will just help toward that end?!?!?
