Buying a used PU - need advice

We're buying a used pop up in about 2 weeks.  it's a '00 Rockwood 2516G.  We're getting a great deal on it and it's LOADED.  A/C, heat, fridge, cassette toilet and shower, outside shower, grill, slide out dinette, the works.  We got it for about a grand below NADA because the people upgraded to a 5th wheel and needed to get rid of it.  Needless to say, we're ecstatic.

My question is, this is our first time buying a used pop up and I wanted to get some advice on things to watch out for when we inspect it.  I found a general checklist on the web, but personal experience and advice is always good.  Any tips would be appreciated.  Thanks.

First of all, I want to welcome you to PUT, and congratulations on your first popup purchase.  Look over the checklist and do a careful walkthrough.  Look for leaks & cracks in the roof., try turning on all the appliances , heat and air, to be sure everything is working.  Get the owners to show you how to crank up and down and make sure it doesn't do anything weird or make funny crunching noises during that process.

Have fun and go on lots of camping trips with your new camper. :)

Welcome!  I can't think of anything b-flat forgot, but I can tell you the number two rule with a pop-up during the check and after you purchase one (number one rule is have fun!  ;) ) if you've never had a pop-up.  That is NEVER force anything.  Whether you're sliding in, sliding out, cranking up, cranking down - if something seems stuck, stop and find out why.  That can't be said enough.
Sounds like you got a great deal!  We also have an '00, but it's a Starcraft.  Loaded the same though.  I have to say the A/C is my favorite accessory, lol!
Keep us updated on the purchase.

Get down and check the underside of the floor.  Look for any wood that may be bad.  When you are walking around on top, check for any soft spots in the floor.  If you can get the owners manual ahead of time read it a couple of times follow the instructions in it.   Check for any tears/repairs to cushions, tenting, etc.

Have fun camping. :)
