Hello  Guy's
The RF lift cable broke on my 2000 Coleman Cheyenne and I was wondering if anybody ever changed it on there own.
Dealer won't have time for the next 2 weeks and we have plans for a trip for the following weekend.
Thanks

Andy

I think if you contact Fleetwood they will send you a maintenance manual on the lift system.  IIRC the lift system is the only maintenance manual they will send to an owner.  I remember seeing threads about his a couple years ago.  You can fabricate your own cables if you want I think.  I consider myself pretty handy but the cable systems seems like one of those things that would frustrate me to the point it wouldn't be worth my time or effort.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :(

Our cable also broke and then we found out the winch was bad too.  So, we took it in and with parts/labor, everything.....,$450.00

The Fall '02 issue of PUT has a nice article about Lift Systems.  I will e-mail it to anyone who is interested.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem but when we tried cranking up  our 2002 Coleman Mesa this weekend it wasn't making the ratcheting noise and at about 1/2 up it fell down and the crank came flying off and came very close to hitting my 7 year old daughter...scary.  My dh made a number of attempts to crank up and we were about ready to give up and spend the weekend in our friend's RV (they were in the campsite next to us) when it finally connected...is this a cable repair issue?

Another problem is that the black rubbler gasket on the storage bin is oozing black goo and the gasket is falling off.

Finally, our refrigerator does not seem to be getting cold when it is running on the battery.  We switched over to gas at the campground and then it was fine.  My dh actually had this checked out at the dealer about 6 months ago and they said it was fine....

Seems that it is time to hook up and take Chez Way in for service again...I'm disappointed that we have so many problems with a newer popup...but at least the roof is okay.

Running the refrigerator on battery/DC power will kill the battery in hours.  Even when I tow with the fridge on DC power from the TV the refrigerator doesn't do very well.  I use AC or gas when we are at the campground. :)

Mine is oozing the black goo but is not coming loose.  I clean it off with mineral spirits periodically.  Once it comes loose I will remove the whole think, clean it and reinstall it.

It sounds like the clutch isn't engaging on your lift system. In the Coleman owners manual it say to crank it all the way up and then over-crank by 1/4 turn. This should reset the clutch mechanism. Check your manual on the amount of over-crank though, I'm trying to go from memory here.
