Hi Tracy,
Yes. I'm sure our kids will want to go (J's in Disneyworld this week so I can't ask him but ). I would prefer to pick the day based on the weather. I may want to show Courtney Penn State while we're out that way (haven't looked yet to see how far away it is).

Di the park is only about 50 miles from Penn State. :)   I agree about picking the day by the weather.  The only thing I have to do is to be back in time for DS and DSBF's boy scout parade and ice cream social on Sunday evening.  The parade is only about a 1/2 mile so it will not take too long.

Tracy, What is the correct exit to get off 80 north to head into Milton, Pa ( Shangri-La ) ? Should it be exit 31A or 212 I think someone has outdated information. then go south on RT 147 ?

Also hope we run into you and Daine and the kids, this way I can prove Lisa has camped ~ Being she did not join me @ Twin Grove. WOW Twin Grove everytime I think that someone took the time to lead me to my site and didn't leave me to drive around aimlessly for a hour to find my site....I'm still impressed btw should you tip this person ?

All the Best,
Adam

Hi Adam,

I don't know about the tipping part.  I didn't tip, but we only rarely camp at private campgrounds.

I have no idea what the exit number is   :o   It is the exit for 147S.  If you go north at the exit it is I-180.  There is the Danville exit, then the next exit is for Milton (don't take that exit unless you want to drive through the town) then the next exit is the one you want.  PA renamed their exits by the mile marker, that is why you are seeing 2 numbers for the exit.  If you miss your exit the next exit is I-80.  You will follow 147 south until you see the right had turn for 405.  This is where 405 starts so you can't go the wrong way on the road.  The campground is just a short distance from the intersection on the right.  If you go out to eat, you should try "The Fence" drive in.  You just keep going up 405 a mile or so.  It is a true drive in restaurant.  They come out to your car to take your order and they deliver the food to the car.  They also have picnic tables and inside seating if you don't want to eat in your car.  Let me know if you are looking for anything else to do.  When do you think you will get to the campground?  In case you would come out to RB Winter here are the directions.  Take 405 N to RT 45 W, you will make a left turn onto a bridge over the Susquehanna River into Lewisburg.  Follow RT 45 through Lewisburg's down town.  You will cross RT 15 a 4 lane highway.  Stay on RT 45 into the town of Mifflinburg.  At the first red light you will see a sign for RB Winter SP.  Turn right and take the road to where it "T"s at RT 192.  Turn left onto RT 192 and follow it to the park.  The campground is closer to the east end of the park.  If you would miss the entrance and come to the lake you can turn around or just keep going and enter the park at the west entrance and just follow the park road to the campground.  There is a bridge being replaced on 192 or I would have given you directions to pick up 192 in Lewisburg instead of going all the way into Mifflinburg. :)

Di I am assuming that you are planning on getting to the park by taking I-80 west to RT 15 S to RT192 W.  There is a bridge out on 192 at the town of  Cowan.  You will want to go south on RT 15 past the West Milton exit.  The highway goes around a curve and down a hill, you will go past a place called Central Oaks Heights on the hill (it sits up a hill all you will see is the entrance road).  You will turn right on the next road Col. John Kelly.  There is a meat market right before the road.  Stay on Col. John Kelly until it ends at RT 192 at Forest Hill.  Turn right onto 192 and follow it to the park.  Turn right onto the park road.  You don't need to go to the office, go directly to the campground.  Stay on the paved park road.  It makes a sharp left turn and goes up a steep hill and then back down the other side.  The lake will be on your left and there is a parking area on both sides of the road.  SLOW DOWN or you might pass the entrance to the campground.  It is at the end of the parking area on the right.  If you cross the bridge you missed it.  Keep following the park road and you can turn around at the dumpstation that is NOT in the campground, but up the road on the right.  If you miss the east entrance to the park and come to the lake (on your right) keep going to the west entrance and then come in that way.  You will follow the park road past the main parking lot, the road turns right and goes down hill.  Go slow, as soon as you go over the bridge turn left into the campground.  I should be at the campground about 6/6:30.  You can set up anytime in the campground, unlike NY where you have to be there by 9PM. :)

Adam I forgot to add that the campground is one loop with a spur going off at the end.  We are camping out on the spur. :)

Thanks Tracy. Such service, being told of bridge closures, etc. (and given new directions to follow). I love our COTOC group  :D . See you next week. I would guess we'll arrive rather late since Chris has about an hour drive home from work and then we have probably 3 1/2 - 4 hrs to the cg. Sure am glad we're not dealing with a 9pm curfew  ;) .

Adam

Tracy, Thanks !

I don't think I will make it over to RB Winter I really don't want to go to Knobels but it's for the kids, so this means Sunday I don't won't move just enjoy the pool and the camp ground I think you know what I mean.

I almost forgot that I'm camping w/Campers & Co @ Frontier Town for four days Yahoo..... :eyecrazy:  to weekends back to back of camping !

Hey all!

Just so you know I am SOOOO jealous that I won't be camping while knowing that you all are camping...  Tracy, can you promise me that you'll throw one of our new firestick discoveries from Campers Barn in the fire and dedicate it to us and the Fire Gods.  lol

I also wondered if we should tip the staff at that KOA for leading us to our site and then for delivering the firewood to our site.  That is a new one for us - we've NEVER had our firewood delivered before.

MTNDAVE

I thought just maybe we might be going to our River Lot in Danville for the Holiday weekend.  That would have put us within 20 mins. of Knobels, 30 mins. of Adam and maybe 45 mins. of R B Winter SP.

But alas the duties of family caretakers dictate and we will be doing the family thing.  HEY,  how may years did they do for us, a small price to pay.

And I must have a kazillion Knobels tickets waiting to be used (they never expire and I get tons for the Company picinic every year).

You all have a great time.  I'll be thinking of you.

Adam

Hey Rick,

I'm going to do my Shagri-La dance for everyone !

Don't worry it's going to rain all weekend, because that's what happens when ever I take the camper out of the garage !

tlhdoc

Adam Stay Home!!! ;)

Adam

:(  Why two kids and my wife all in the pop-up during a nice Thunderstorm no-way..... I woundn't miss this for world !

Thank God for my ABS roof...They are lighting proof right ?

tlhdoc

Adam I would never stay in the PU in an electrical storm. :yikes:   Clear out and go into a building with plumbing and wiring or your TV if a building isn't available.

We had a great time at RB Winter.  I set up our site Thursday evening so we didn't have a lot to do when we got there Friday night.  DiW made it in to the campground late Friday night and HersheyGirl came to the park on Saturday afternoon.  Beautiful weather until we were coming home today.  It started to rain mid-morning.  We had the site tarped so the only time we had to get wet was when we were taking the tarp down.  I was a really nice trip.  We are planning early for next year at the park if anyone else is interested in camping in the woods. :)

PS Rick we burned one of the colored fire sticks for you and Stephie on Saturday night when we were having fruit pies, somores and strawberries with pound cake. :D

HersheyGirl

We had a really good time too.  DS fell asleep on the way home.  Thank you tlhdoc for the hospitality and DiW it was so good to see you again and your family.  We need to do this again.  I am tired today.:D
