I saw this bumper sticker on a fifth wheeler traveling down US 74 yesterday....EAT MORE BEANS  America needs the gas

Well we are still enjoying some of the most affordable??? gas in the US since moving to Georgia $1.87. We have been camping at least once per month (close to home). Now we have the trips coming up that will require at least 60 gallons of gas for the trip. We just look at the expenses and decide how much value it will be to the family. We do have a trip planned to Colorado in the fall and we will still drive because the cost of airfare and a rental will still cost more.

Oh well, just another bump in the road to the campground.

It sure did not stop jobless me picking up Finally. I watched the needle with panick eyes on the way back, but did not notice it going down a lot quicker. Hills were surely scary though, with the engine revving up to 3,000 RPM, I am sure my mileage suffered. Otherwise it was a coll 2,000 RPM, consuming more or less the same gas hopefully.

Will we not camp ? Himmm, I don't think it will make a difference at this stage, we will bite the bullet and go ......

We paid $2.07 a gallon up in Maine over the weekend.  Didn't hit a lot of traffic coming home, don't know if it's because most folks didn't bother to travel due to cost or maybe we just missed the big rush home.  Usually the toll booths are pretty backed up from afternoon to early evening, however, we hit no back up.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with something that Jeff (Diplomat) said.  "We have trailers because we like to travel" (essentially), and the price of gas is an inconvenience but not a detractor in most cases.  I did find a silver lining here though, as long as the price of gas is keeping some people home, the campgrounds have more room for the likes of us!! I cringe and pay, cringe and pay cringe and camp! And all seems a little better in the world when I do.

Maybe it won't be long until we see the "non gas" parts crossed out on those "nobody rides for free" bumper stickers. :)
