How to "Pay it Forward" in real life!

Over the last few weeks, I've been watching Good Morning America and they have been doing nice things for people and others across the country have been taking the lead and doing the same.

I have decided to begin the "Pay it Forward" (PIF) attitude on the PopUp Times and challenge others to do the same.

The concept is easy..  Do something nice for someone and all you ask in return is that they turn around and do something nice for someone else.

My PIF will be to assist Birol in some of the items that he will need for his new popup.

I am going to donate my BAL Leveler and some other Popup-Related items that we have around.  We have recently purchased a Hybrid Camper and our needs are different.  We have many things around left over from the Popup, so I figured the best person to help out would be the newest Popup owner..

I hope this goes the way its intended and we begin helping others without expecting anything in return.

Thank you,

Gone-Camping

Sounds pretty cool to me. I'm not currently in a state where I can be of much help, but I've done this in the past. Larry & I actually did the same thing a couple of years ago for Birol, Larry donated the MOAT and I donated several other camping related items. :D

I have always been a firm believer that you do what you can when you can.  There is no pressure on anybody to have to "give" or "do for others".

I happen to at this moment have an opportunity to help out.  That could change in a week, and I may be on the receiving end.  Life is strange like that.

Gone-Camping, it all comes around.. Thats the idea.  If enough people get this wave going, it will take on a life of its own and grow..

LC, yours  is such an awesome idea! :)  And it's a great example of how this board  sets a high standard for  what it means to be a  true community of friends and fellow campers.

A BAL leveler--all of us who have one know what a great gift this is and how kind you are to share yours with Birol!   :#

If you dont get an avalanche of replies for this thread, please dont feel it isnt being admired and appreciated by all of us who read it . :#

One reason more people might not reply publicly   is that several members  have already contacted Birol  privately behind the scenes  based on their desire to be a part of his new adventures in  tangible ways with useful gifts.  :U  :C

And like others have said, it's  clear  that  those who send less "visible" gifts like  warm wishes and  shared happiness for Birol  are   giiving generously  from their hearts.  These gifts of the spirit tie us all together across the miles in a very real way and I feel so fortunate to be a part of a group like this    :W  :S

I've always thought that movie had a wonderful idea (even though I was bawling through it, lol).  Excellent idea, LC!

We just came home from dinner with some close friends who just purchased a popup.  (their first)   They were lucky enough to get a 1999 Jayco, in like new condition for $1200.   But, they haven't got anything to use in their new pu.   So, it's going to be a pleasure for us to help them outfit the new camper with them, and as soon as possible I will also get them a subscription to PopUpTimes.   (their computer is down and they are waiting til next month to get a new one, at that time i'll make sure they become new members to the board.)
They are planning to camp with us over Memorial Day weekend, and I'm really looking forward to it, jus hope for good weather.  There is a Pow Wow near our place that weekend too, so we'll be plenty busy.  And, even tho I'm low carbing and being good about my meals, we'll probably be making some fry bread over the campfire on Sunday evening.
I always look at the membership of this little group of ours as a village, and am so impressed at the wonderful spirit of giving and compassion and fun that we have here in this town.   We need someone to make up a camp cheer, or yell or whatever ya want to call it, that we can do at the campfire to announce our loyalties, haha.

Time for a group hug.  Getting a balance leveler sounds like a great start.  DH doesn't want to spend the $$ to get one, but I hope to get one some day also.  Anyone got a link to one, or willing to get rid of also?
