I finally did it.  I forgot to latch the trunk lid after I got out the sway bar.  So going down the road at 60 MPH the lid flew open.  Luckily no major damage and nothing lost out of the trunk.  However, all the "bracing" that is "glued" or melted or whatever to the lid was torn apart.  How do you now glue/rivet the two pieces back together?  Thanks for any suggestions!

Bayside, you've done the thing I'm most paranoid about! We're on our third pop-up with a front storage compartment and I know, one day, this is gonna happen!

I'd try looking in the Yellow Pages under "Plastics" or "Plastic Fabricators" and give someone listed there a call. It's ABS and I'd think a thermoplastic company would at least be able to point you in the right direction if not repair it.

Good luck!

I just ordered an ABS repair kit from The Electrical Connection.  I'll let you know how well it works.

I just glued the two pieces of the lid together.  The 2-part adhesive seems to work well so far.  It comes in a double syring and you have to mix the 2-parts together for 60 sec. before you apply it.  I bought two kits and could have used a three.  The kits cost less than $5 each plus shipping ($6).  I duct tapped the two sections togehter while the adhesive set.  It took about 5 days from the time I ordered to the time they arrived.  Like I said, so far so good.  Now let's see if it holds up.

thanks for the update Bruce! Got that site saved as a "just in case". Doesn't seem like a bad price at all.

The exact thing happened to me over spring break.  I duck taped the heck out of the unit to last, and haven't fixed it.  I am anxious to hear how this turns out.  Please keep us posted.

I've used this stuff to repair the cracks on my roof and on the corners of the front cover and so far so good. It's been about 5 months or so and maybe 8 or 10 camping trips. Before using this I used Marinetex and it went about a year before I started to notice new cracks setting in around the same spots. Keeping my fingers crossed but if it lasts a year or so I don't mind cleaning it up and doing it again. Only time will tell.
