Electrical cord for Finally .....

What do I buy ? what amperage ? how long ? I guess it has to be an outdoor cord right ? What does those 15 amp or 30 amp or 50 amp outlets look like ? I guess I get the adapters from an rv dealer ?

HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP

Birol, Since you don't have AC, I would get a good quality 12 ga. outdoor cord. Plug looks just like your 3 prong ones at home. This is all I use on my camper. I have an adapter that plugs into the standard 30 amp cord (looks similar to a drier cord), I leave my cord stowed in the camper all the time, and just open the mouse hole and plug into the camper right there. All of the campgrounds I've been at, have a 15 amp plug in on the pole.

Birol here is a picture of a 30 amp extension cord.

That is also a very good price for a 25 foot cord.  At Wal-Mart they are close to $30.

What do you plan to power with the electric?  If it isn't a lot you could get away with a smaller cord. :)

A radio, maybe a portable light, I don't know ... clock ? that is about it I guess :)

Don't forget the coffee pot... just get the better one now, or later on you may wish you had just invested a few more bucks for the better on.  That's what usually happens to us, we try to "just get by", but later regretted that we didn't just "go for it".

Gone-Camping

Birol, you're trailer doesn't have a 30 amp service, so just get a regular extension cord, heavy duty would be best. Those old Starcrafts were only rated at 15 amps, and yours doesn't even have the converter! Most campgrounds will have direct hook-up for regular power cord, but you could get a 30 amp converter if it gives you peace of mind...I've had three of them and have never EVER needed to use it!

Briol.. Get your self a 50 footer though.. The way you will have it hooked up, it will be worth it if you ever need the length... Don't forrget a new male replacement plug for the camper end.. 12 or 14 gauge will work just fine..

Hey, you might want to add some tacky lights to that list.

BARDENL

It won't take much power, but and inexpensive microwave is the best accessory we ever got - does hot water, popcorn, and heats up anything.

Not sure about in Canada, but locally, auctions you can usually pick up a microwave for around $10... also watch yard sales.

This isn't a "must have" Birol! LOL I'm one who would never bother with a microwave while camping. Heck, I rarely use the one I have in my house! It's 22 years old and going strong if that tells you how much I ever use it! ;) It's just a preference thing.... how much would ya use it, how much weight do ya want to carry???
