To wire two twelve volt batteries together is it positive to positive and negative to negative? :)

Yes and that is called parallel wiring.

For connecting two batteries together; parallel wiring keeps the voltage constant and doubles the amperage available.
Series wiring (positive to negative) doubles the voltage while keeping the amperage constant.

As Mike said, you want parallel (+ to + ; - to -)

Series would be + to -

And you didn't think to look on my web page  :D

Tis type wiring is not limited to 12v batteries.  Your flashlight probably has two "D" cell batteries.  Each battery is 1.5 volts, and end to end (series) they make 3 volts.  Check the bulb, it is a 3v bulb)

Many folks use golf cart batteries for their RVs.  A golf cart battery is 6 volts, so 2 wired in series would make the 12 volts we need.

Ditto Tim's advice above. If you wire two 12v batteries in series, you'll have a 24v output, which will likely fry everything that's hooked up to it. Wire them in parallel (pos to pos /// neg to neg)

Well I thought I had it right.  I just wanted to make sure.   :)

Might this be for Blackwoods in Acadia NP?? We will be there  on the 8th or 9th, see ya then!!

I bought two group 27 deep cycle batteries too. I plan to leave them in the back of my truck for this trip and just use a good set of jumper cables to hook to the camper.
I ordered a couple of 80W solar panels that won't be arrive til after the trip. I have a nice deep cycle battery charger that runs fine from the inverter in my truck, plan to charge the batteries whenever I am out driving the truck.

I have the original group 24 that came with the camper, I'll reattach that when I am gone with the truck.
