All,

After my last camping trip, I am in the market for a water filter for the input on the trailer. God only knows what we are drinking today. So I need to solicit you all for your input. Do you have one? If so does it work? What do you recommend? Does the popup store have one? I wish there was a way to tell if they were working or not/or now good.

Whitestar,

Here's the one we use: Water Filter

We picked it up at Walmart for $17 in the RV section (by the auto stuff). It removes the sediments, chlorine, etc. and although it isn't a water purifier, I haven't needed to use either the PUR dispenser or a water purifier since we put it on the trailer. And, I've got a weak stomach when it comes to water.

I like the fact that you get 3.5 gallons per minute through it. Showers, toilet and sinks all run at full speed. If you require more purification, use a PUR pitcher (available in most hardware & department stores) or a First Need water purifier (available from Campmor).

Two years ago we camped at a state park with a "water hookup" at the site.  The water was rust color at best and the temperature was 97 degrees outside.  I did not have any type of filter at that time.  After we got back I went online and bought a double cartridge filter system at http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/index.htm   This place is great and really helps you to decide what you want (and don't want).  I am using a RV-SED1 and a CBC-KDF cartridge and have been very happy with them.  I get a flow rate of a little over 3 gallons/minute.  I change them once a year and haven't had any problems with them. Even if you don't buy anything at this site, it's a good reference site for water filters.

Bruce thanks for the link.  It has a lot of information on it.

I use the same blue filter as Top Cat.  So far it has worked fine, but we drink bottled water when we camp. :)

When we first bought our trailer, I put a PUR water filter on the sink faucet. I can get filtered water at the sink and don't need to worry about filtering all the water that comes into the trailer. It evens has a light on it to let me know when it needs to be changed out.

This looks like the one we use too and bought it at CW, but ours also says that it fliters out bacteria and microorganisims as well--something very important to me, since I once had giardia.

I like to filter all of the water.  I worry more about sediment collecting in the water heater. :)

I'm with Tracy. I lost a water heater to sediment from camping where they were on well water.

My normal filtration is a carbon/charcoal filter with at least 3 gpm flow outside the trailer that traps sediment and gets rid of "hose taste" and a good .2 micron filter on the faucet tap to help prevent cases of the green apple quick step.

"green apple quick step".... pretty funny way to describe that sad situation!  ha ha :D

Got one, at Walmart. Hope to try it out soon. Have reservations at Drummerboy again for the last weekend in Sept. Wife wants to Xmas shop at some of the local shops.. Thanks to all for your help!
