DH and I had the good fortune to have a few extra days to spend up north over this holiday weekend.   We were there from Thurs thru today, and had a wonderful time.   We were joined by some new PUT members, edsclassic, and their puppy (?) Otis.  They have a 2001 Jayco, their first popup.  Ed said to tell you that he'll probably spend his first post telling about all the troubles he's had with it.  LOL, I made sure that he knows that he's going to be in the right place.   Ed and his DW Sharron have been camping with us for a while now, and also deer hunt with us.
This was a great weekend as far as weather was concerned, hot and sunny, til now, it's raining here at home.  Good thing we got here first.  We didn't do anything exciting, the guys went fishing and we girls relaxed, read, watched the hummingbirds, and went to the ole swimming hole, cooked (Yes, TC, we cooked good stuff and waited to tell you til the leftovers were gone!)     DH will actually be going back up there tomorrow, as he's got a construction job there, only about 12 miles from our place.  He's decided to stay in the PU instead of driving back and forth or taking a motel room.
I'm going to post some pics from this weekend on our webshots site.

Glad you had a good trip. :)

T, so glad it was fun and the weather cooperated for a change.  The woods in Michigan can be so beautiful this time of year.

Sis,
I'm glad you had a fun time, but am very angry about your hiding the leftovers. I need to eat too!  :(  ;)

:W  :#  :!   Heh, heh--he'll  be getting plenty of leftovers in less than two weeks, won't he, T?

wiininkwe

I just hope he doesn't try to hide the goodies from us. haha

BTW, the trout was soooooooo good on the grill!

Now that the leftover secret is out, figure on getting a "bear box" next time to safe guard them.

Great idea, Mike.  But you know, Al IS Topcat and cats can climb trees and my guess is that  nothing could keep him out of the larder no matter what.

We'll soon find out--in two weeks, Toni and I will be camping with Peggy and Al at their seasonal site and  we are planning on spending the whole time  cooking and eating and making his life miserable otherwise.

I'm talking about the 1/4 steel plate boxes they use in grizzly country. IIRC someone posted the plans for welding one up.

You could even make some money as Animal Planet pays for videos. Let him see the leftover going in the box and break out the video camera. Bet it's got to be an entertaining as all those "real" bear and raccoon video's they play.

Mike, you are a GENIUS! :# This video will be a prize winner!

I am picturing  this thing hanging from a tree (MUCH more fun than one just chained to a cement pad on  the ground somewhere)  So the opening secen is of Al going up the tree, followed by shots of him crawling out on a limb and trying to cut the support chain with a hacksaw.  Then, having no luck with that, he decides to saw off the limb to drop the box to the ground.  Unfortunately, he forgets to climb back to the tree before cutting the limb.  :yikes:   While this results in the box on the ground, it also ends up with Al falling on top of the box (ouch!)  :banghead:

The next half hour of film shows Al working diligently with many kinds of tools to pry the box open.  He finally succeeds  after using a blowtorch (and singeing off his remaining hair)  When he at last gets the box open, he finds a note saying

"Hi, Topcat, the fried chicken, ribs, and  pecan pie were wonderul--hope you will sometime find a box we havent gotten to first.  Love Yogi and Boo Boo"

:swear:

Final scene fading to black shows Al running toward the trailer shouting "PEG, where's my gun  We're having bear stew for supper tonight!"

Oh my!!!   This is all too funny!!   The real entertainment will be Peggy and NightOwl and I sitting in his camper watching him attempting this 'break-in' on his own webcam turned to capture the area where the bear box thingy is.   I'm sorry little brother, but isn't it written somewhere that sisters are sposed to torment the baby boys?!    Too bad that your greatest weakness is food, that makes it way too easy.

:W  :eyecrazy: Now, T--we dont know for sure yet that his "greatest weakness" is food--there may be other things even more "interesting"      which we will find out from Peggy that we could blackmail him with :-()
