Quote from: Dee4jsheesh..I think everyone is taking this comment a little too serious. :eyecrazy:

I do beleive this comment was made in jest, because CALI is known for skateboarders & surfers.
I knew he was kidding. That's why I called my son a nitwit skateboarder!

Okay guys, I better not find any Scott tissue on my beloved pop-up this weekend!!!!  I was the queen of TP'ing in high school and I'm sure I can remember how to do it! :p

NightOwl

sounds like you have been hanging out in too many fern bars, Dee :J

Have a wonderful time camping ,:W  and I am sure that if you SHOULD happen to T P a popup or two, it will not be just same old, same old, but will be done very tastefully  with great original creativity and lots of style!  :#.

First thing we know, you will have your own program on TLC explaining how to TP a popup.

OMG--I think we have been unintentionally guilty of hijacking a thread where a friend has run into a serious problem--somehow one thing led to another and I do apologize, Starcraft Dad.  We will try to get this back on track...ASAP or sooner

NightOwl

Well, PUT-ers, I am HURT! :( I truly gave the creased roof a lot of thought and came up with what I really thought was an idea worth trying and not a single person has even been willing to consider it and  discuss whether it might be a possibility or take up the pros and cons of  "ironing" an aluminum roof.  It is the only thing I could think of short of replacing the roof entirely (and that will be expensive)

Come on, get your thinking caps on Gang, and lets's see if we can get my fellow MIchigander some ideas about how to solve this.  We never know when someone is going to skateboard or roller blade on our own roof and the info may come in handy.

Ideas--we need ideas.  TIM--that's who we need, he always has information about all kinds of things.  I bet he could help  (I bet he is camping this wekend and has been gone, too--it is GORGEOUS here in north GA and I bet they are out getting acquainted with some of the  scenic wonders of their new home state.

HELP! I can imagine  how awful that roof  must look and if that if it happened to me I know I would be heartsick.    :banghead:  :swear:

these marks are actually groove's like running your finger across aluminum foil???
hmm.. I would leave it personally when your camping no one can see it. The fear being messing with it might make it worse. what about suction cups to "lift" the grooved part. hard to say without looking at it up close.

good luck, and find the kid and beat him with a big stick :yikes:

not bad for someone who hangs out in fern bars and teaches courses in t.p.ing, Dee. :J

You are right, of course.   Sometimes it is better to do nothing than to risk making it worse.

Starcraft Dad

I decided to just leave it than try and fix it.  After all the pu is 12 years old and in great condition but I could end up making it worse.  If it starts to break through than I will have it fixed.

Nightowl, don't worry about hijacking the thread.  I've gotten quite a chuckle out of it.  It has eased the hurt from this happening to my baby.  We do now know who did it but they don't live in the area and I have no idea how to find out until they come back for a visit.  You really can't see it unless you are close up to it.  It didn't do any damage to the inside ceiling.  So we'll just wait and see if anything develops.

Since it's an older PU, it didn't break through, and it's not visible when in use, I think we should quit calling it "damage" and call it "character" (like the character lines we all get on our faces as we age).  If it really bugs you, maybe one of those paintless dent removal guys could pop it out.  From what I understand, they slowly heat the metal and then use suction cups to coax the metal back where it should be.

So this kid was visiting someone, and that someone can't give you the information on how to call his parents?  I mean, if it was my nitwit skateboarder kid, I'd want to know that his idea of fun is damaging other people's personal property so I could damage some of his very personal property, if you know what I mean.

I didn't read all of the responses but in case it wasn't mentioned, check with your home owners insurance policy.

Quote from: debbiedee1957Haven't you heard two wrongs don't make a right!!!

Keep it NICE   :)

It's true that two wrongs do not make a right.....But three lefts do!

I agree with chasd60, check with your insurance.

NightOwl

Y'know, I never thought of  checking   about the homeowner's insurance, but  like the others said,  I agree it is something you definitely need to do.  They cover a lot of "property" which might be damaged in some way and perhaps the popup comes under some kind of extended coverage like for instance your garage.

Please let us know if you find out anything further.  I still feel really bad when I think about what happened to your nice popup  and think someone is missing the boat on teaching their child to be a responsible member of the human race.  :(

So he or she might not live in Michigan after all?  My faith is restored.  BTW, I am curious.  Did the person run over the PU one time or two?

Sounds like you PU will have character unless the insurance covers it.

There is two sets of marks.  One were they jumped off the side and another down towards the back just to the right of the seam.  My homeowners insurance is checking on the policy.  I'm suppose to hear back today.
