Just signed up here after seeing the SCCampers website!  Wanted to introduce ourselves and hope to be able to meet some of you soon.  We are almost empty nesters, the last one still home is a senior in highschool.

We have an old Starcraft that we love and take out every chance we get!  We are leaving for the Sierra's the week of Oct 9th for a week.

Looking forward to talking with you all!

Welcome!  We're glad you found us--we're a pretty good group for a bunch of Inernet axe murderers ;) Keep checking back--we have a number of upcoming trips that you might be interested in.

Where do you go in the Sierras?  My DH and I used to tent camp about three or four times a year up at Bridgeport, but since we got the camper, we haven't been.  I'm paranoid about a bear ripping open the bunkend tenting to get inside, since we've kept food inside.  Heck, you even hear those stories where bears break in trying to get at the toothpaste!!:yikes:

Be safe, have agreat trip, and we hope to meet you at one of our upcoming rallies!

Hi Lori:

Thanks for the welcome.  I have been lurking for a few days now.  We'd be up for the Christmas trip if something gels on that.

We are heading to Mammoth Lakes.  And we do get regular visitors (bears).  We keep all food and stuff in the bear box and have never had a problem with them.  They like to visit the fisherman at the lake to see if they will give up their stringers.

Thanks again, and Hi to everyone here!

Cheri and Bill,

Welcome.  Lori is right; you have to be careful who you meet on the Internet.  Most of us to carry axes, and rumor has it that there is a lawyer or two amongst us.  But only good lawyers---they say.  :)

We've got you signed up for Pismo, but keep watching the boards.  You never know when some time, some place, some one will come up to you and say, "Smile, we're going camping...anyone want to join us?"

Not too mention a lutheran guitar playing pastor who has a slightly demented sense of humour and a liking of knives...

And of course a moose who snores louder than a SR-71 with the afterburners kicked in!

Lori, Lori, Lori.  You're missing out on some great camp locations by letting the bears scare you away.  We've camped in Sequoia and Lake Tahoe in the pop-up.  No bears have made their way near us yet.  There are bear boxes where there are bear problems.  You keep anything with scent in there.  You can keep sealed things (like canned goods) in the trailer.  The bears have a good sense of smell, but not that good!  And the last thing they want to do is have a run-in with a human.

Welcome to the group!  We look forward to camping with you sometime!

Can you keep spouses that eat anchovy and jalopena pizza's in there?  I would.

We have camped in Bridgeport every year for the past 11 years and have never had a bear problem. Of course this is probably because Randy rarely changes his clothes. :yikes: I don't know why Bridgeport brings out the worst in him? Maybe the kids are smart by insisting on pitching a tent on the site instead of sleeping in the popup.

Anyway, welcome Cheri and family. Looking forward to meeting at Pismo

Welcome to the group and enjoy your camping trip. With this group there are a lot of strange sounds, so be careful. fluff

Thanks everybody!  We are soo excited to meet you all.  Hay, if anyone wants to join us at Twin Lakes in Mammoth we are leaving the 9th of Oct and staying for the week.  We have a full size Dodge Van (Teal Green) and an '82 Starcraft that looks like it has been through a war on the outside.  Inside is nice though.

We'll be on the look out for axe wielding lawyers.

Hay Moose, are you going to Pismo?  I am also a DO fanatic, can't camp without my cast iron!  Maybe we can heat up the pots at Pismo!

At the moment we're tenatively planning on going. There is a minor hitch-in-the-get-a-long as our granddaughter is having her recital that afternoon in Visalia. We'll probably go to Pismo and then hustle to Visalia on Saturday. They have the date, but don't know if it is an AM or PM show.

Since you'll miss us at Vail Lake, check out http://www.socaldos.org/index.html. There's a DOG January 14-16, 2005 at Doheney and we'll be there. The link to it isn't up yet, but should be shortly. Lori may drop in for the day and there's a rumor that Huell Howser will be there to film it.

We'll look forward to meeting you.

His choice of pizza toppings isn't the worst of his scent....if you know what I mean.  He and Moose have a lot in common in that department.  In fact, even Griffin is proud that he is able to hold his own in this very "manly" arena.  Aaahhhh...living with boys....fluff, fluff, fluff.
