Karen--the seminars are held in the seminar tent.  When we were there a few years ago, it was in the middle of the area, but any one should be able to tell you where it is.

See you there.

We went to the Pomona RV show today and looked at all the goodies.  Luckly, the rain stayed away as long as we needed it to and then the  sky opened up once we were in our way home.  We purused the Hybrids and found one that we liked.  It was an Aerolite CUB 214 and would sleep 6-7 comfortably.  After looking at all the Hybrids/Fleetwood Niagra, we decided to purchase the Niagra because of storage issues.

Have fun on Saturday and I hope that it doesn't rain on you while you are playing with the toys.

Ooops, Thats was me, I forgot to log in...

Also we saw the Roo Hybrid, had some nice features but only two models on display.  Jayco did not bring any popups-they said the factory did not have them ready.

As could be expected the majority of the show was high end diesel pusher motorhomes and large tt's.

Did you purchase one at the show?  How were the prices?

We will probably wait until after January, we need to sell our Santa Fe first (would rather sell our PU than trade it in).
The sales guys at the show are typical "salesmen" and talk about the deals, but I think just as good a deal can be hashed out at the dealership.  The show was good to see all the makes/models in one location w/o going all over So Cal.

Getting close.  Remember to print out a coupon for everyone in your group to save $1.00 per ticket.

Hi everyone! We went to the RV show today and I wanted to let you know that in spite of the ticket saying White Avenue Gate 14 (IIRC), they've changed that and the entrance they're using is on Fairplex, gate 17 (the main gate you enter when you go to the fair). So of course we thought we knew it all and went to gate 14, despite a sign near gate 17 directing us to go there, and had to backtrack all the way. :swear: When you park, you walk to what would be the main gate area if the fair was going on and you take the free tram across the street to the RV show. The kids will probably think that's a great adventure. Be prepared, there are a bunch of F-350s and big He-Man trucks in the parking lot!

Also, for you wives manning the directions, make sure if you tell your husband to take the 57 ALL THE WAY to the 10 freeway, that he understands you really do mean the 10 freeway and not the 60 freeway, even if he insists the fairgrounds are really off the 60 freeway, even when you show him in the mapbook that it's off the 10 freeway and also try to explain to him that you travel the freeways more than he does and that you do know how to read a map. If he does take the 60, you'll end up getting off the freeway and taking a nice tour of Pomona rather than backtracking. Not that this happened to anyone I know personally or anything!:banghead:

By the way, the first hybrid trailers we looked at were the Aerolites and Cubs. Paul fell in love! He was ready to make a deal right then. I was surprised. Knowing he'd regret moving so quickly on this just-want-to-check-them-out-for-the-first-time trip, I suggested we look around. Big mistake on my part. There's not a lot of hybrids there, honestly, and the few we looked at other than the Cub didn't impress me at all. So we didn't go back and make the deal because we had to leave to pick up the kiddies from school, and now Dee is going to go buy "my" trailer, I just know it. I did tell Paul if he still was that enamored of it in the morning, he had my permission to go back tomorrow morning and make the deal, but he'd better get there before Dee does! LOL Actually, it might be big for Dee since her kids are young, but it's perfect for my super-sized kids. (check out the 23TT)

By the way, the salesman we were talking to about the Cub was Mike Armenta. Honestly, no pressure and he was very knowledgable and didn't show us a bunch of models we wouldn't be interested in. We told him our needs and he showed us those models that might work. We were really impressed with his knowledge of the product and he was able to answer the "hardball" questions about the frame and warranty and mechanical issues that Paul asked him. I've been to some dealerships when we were shopping for our pop-up that I knew more about the product from reading about it online than the salesman did!

We went and looked at the new Fleetwoods. I'm not sure I like the new high-sided pop-ups. To get into the bunks, you have to climb on a step-up piece, and on some of them it was literally a little square on one side and a full step on the other. I thought, that's okay now, but what about when you're getting older or what if you have, say, your mom camping with you. That's a precarious way to get into bed, not to mention out. Also, they had all the pop-ups zipped up tight, so they were stuffy and dark inside. Not a great way to attract people to them. And they've changed all the names again, except on the smaller ones. This is getting confusing to tell what is one model compared to another from year to year (like my Sun Ridge being the same as the Mesa.)

Anyway, I wanted to mostly give you a heads-up about the parking situation and the change there. Have a great time. If you see Paul over by the Cubs, give him a thumbs up so he'll make the deal! :# (I highly doubt it)

We didn't buy, but may call tomorrow and put a deposit on a new hi-side fleetwood ( cant decide betweeen the two without the slide out.)  Need to check on money, and I was a bit shocked at their estimation that they might be able to give us only 5500 for our bayside...  :-(  ( saw one for sale at nearby rv place to us - 98 for 8000)

We did like on starcraft hybrid, but the shower was such - I could fit one finger between my head and the top of the dome...   They are pretty though...

Did have a question - all dealers said don't go by GVWR as your guideline against your tow vehicle specs, but by pop up weight - and estimate your weight.  This would easily put the Sequoia in range to be towed by the 5 cyl GMC Canyon.  Is this correct?

Anybody interested in a 99 bayside?

And anybody know if the best deals are really at the fair?  They would throw in a/c and the awning... which is nice.. but no negotiating on the price in the trailer.  :-(

oldmoose

Sorry I couldn't join you yesterday. I didn't get home until after 9 Friday night and had to dry the trailer and do some repairs. I was busy all day as Paula was in Visalia babysitting Hannah.

We didn't buy, but weren't planning on it anyway. We've got another couple of years in the pop up--when Griffin finally gets out of private preschool and into public kindergarten--before we can financially make the move. Hopefully by then, they'll be making the interior heights of ybrids at least 6'6"!!

We just picked up the camper form storage and are about to make our own forray into opening it up, cleaning off the mud and drying it out. I'm looking forward to it--how much of a campng nerd am I!?! :eyecrazy:

It was fun seeing everyone out there! Sorry we weren't able to stay and chat as much as we would have liked--we were 2 hours late to a birthday party as it was. Oops! :o
