Quote from: NightOwlAlso, I still like Skip's idea of having a forum for prayer requests and   sympathy for those who have lost loved ones or  have just had their mother-in-law move in permanently.

Elisa ~ I disagree.  Respectfully, of course.  That is the purpose of the campfire section ... always has been.  People can (and will) choose what to read and what to respond to ~ no need to add yet another forum to sort through.  I think we have plenty!

Let's go Camping.

Quote from: dee106did i miss something? the only post i see from Lee is :

Munchausen by Internet
For decades, physicians have known about so-called factitious disorder, better known in its severe form as Munchausen syndrome (Feldman & Ford, 1995). Here, people willfully fake or produce illness to command attention, obtain lenience, act out anger, or control others. Though feeling well, they may bound into hospitals, crying out or clutching their chests with dramatic flair. Once admitted, they send the staff on one medical goose chase after another. If suspicions are raised or the ruse is uncovered, they quickly move on to a new hospital, town, state, or in the worst cases - country. Like traveling performers, they simply play their role again. I coined the terms "virtual factitious disorder" (Feldman, Bibby, & Crites, 1998) and "Munchausen by Internet" (Feldman, 2000) to refer to people who simplify this "real-life" process by carrying out their deceptions online. Instead of seeking care at numerous hospitals, they gain new audiences merely by clicking from one support group to another. Under the guise of illness, they can also join multiple groups simultaneously. Using different names and accounts, they can even sign on to one group as a stricken patient, his frantic mother, and his distraught son all to make the ruse utterly convincing.

and the start of the thread where to read about it the diease, where did Lee make any statement that he was talking about Birol?

I see birol making an attack, and charlie trying to figure out how it was a personal attack

did i miss a post somewhere? please clue me in , the two threads  on this topic bear-bait made no statement, others made them , yet bear was banned. I'm confused!

The thing is... You won't see anything obvious unless you were able to read all the posts that were in the thread titled " Update"  That Birol had started. That entire thread is gone.  So, since people can't see what was said there, No one is able to make fair judgemnts for themselves for either side of the issue.

PLease Dee and Tlhdoc...  delete your posts.  It just stirs and muddies things up again.

It's sad that it came to this.  Please reconsider total elimination for a cooling off period with a warning that if it happens again, they will be eliminated for good -- unless, of course, they were already warned prior to this...

 :(

I know I'm not a regular poster, but I've been lurking for years and here's my 2 cents-

I think Birol airs too much of his personal laundry here. I've witnessed way more more silly situations that would have gotten him booted from other forums.

Bearbait kills me! I think he's funny but too often at someone else's expense.

MommaMia ~

IMHO it would appear that you are taking sides by the line under your name.

Let's go Camping.

Cooling off period strikes me as a better option than lifetime ban but of course Dave is the ultimate arbiter.
My 2 cents

I am  friends with LOTS of people,  Just couldn't fit them all there!  This better?   :D

Hey Dave,
Create an unmoderated forum for those who want to scrap. Let Bearbait & Birol back in and they, along with anyone else can duke it out there. When threads start to go downhill, move them to the unmoderated forum. That way the rest of us don't have to be spectators unless we choose to.

Camperroo

Ahhhh....don't ban them...Birol maybe went a little too public and Bearbait didn't directly launch an attack...let's just send them both off to a corner by the campfire for a little while and then let them come back and play with us all again!!!!.....please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of a forum for those seeking consolation, etc., due to some unfortunate situation.  That way folks can opt to go over there and offer support as needed.

That is the ULTIMATE compromise, thanks for doing that.
Sometimes people can be stubborn and unresponsive to other peoples feelings, what you just did rises above the rest and shows that you really care!!!

Friend Of Bearbait....... who would have known????????

Just kidding, that is why I winked so much!!!!

C'mon everybody let's all hold keyboards and sing Kum-bi-ya and do a group hug!!!!!

Can ya feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel the love???? C'mon, can ya feeeeeel it???

PLEASE do not take this wrong, it is my sad attempt at humor in these trying times.

TJWSANTAFE

I missed all the action, but I heard about it when I stopped by the PUT office today. The intention is only to ban them for a short time; a cooling off period..
I was under the impression that this was a camping board and that it is a pay board. With this in mind, I enjoy reading about camping adventures and problems while camping. I do not care to hear about something that has nothing to do with camping.. But that is just me.. Am I wrong?

Camperroo

The campfire section is suppose to be for members to be able to venture off the usual camping type topics that may not apply specifically for pop up camping.  It's often fun and entertaining and can be sad when those of us need to ask for help in the support of getting through a tough situation.  But there probably be should kind of line as to just how personal one can really get when discussing very disturbing private family matters.  That would be up to the moderator to draw the line when things get a little to nitty gritty.

I'm glad to hear they've just been given a cooling off period.  I'd like to welcome them both back around the campfire when the time comes again.

Acts 2:38 girl

Man, you take a few days off...  I can't believe what's happened in such a short period of time.  I hope they can both come back soon.  I like the campfire's off topic theme, it's a great place to share news (births, deaths, divorce, marriage, in-laws)  Sometimes we might share to much info, but sometimes we also take cheap shots at eachother ;) .

Sigh......., isn't it just like a real family! :eyecrazy:

Exactly why I chose to change it to what it is.  Those who know what it really is appreciate it.  Those who don't know can make any association  they want.  And if they are making the wrong association, guessing it's that B you said, I am sure they know it so it still works for me.

And yes, you are right about one thing.... it is a  sad attempt.  Pitiful, actually.  I think you should open up to everyone about how bad you feel at being such a poor joke maker and ask for sympathies.   :D   ;)   :D

Ready... let's sing:

There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

Actually, I think these lyrics are very befitting to the needs of this board at this time.

:book: Keep it relevant to pop up camping in all forums except the Campfire area

It s OK to criticize a product, manufacturer, campground or Pop UP Times. Just be honest and fair to all parties involved, including your fellow board readers
NO name-calling - like TROLL!

Just thought I would bring up a couple of the rules for the board.

And mention that I GOT NEW SOCKS !:D :D
