Here in south TX, we had a cool front last Thursday (High 68 - low 49). I couldn't stand it! I had to take Friday off and we went camping at our favorite SP. It was great!!! :-()

We set up the PU Thurs and set back to enjoy a beautiful weekend. Lying in my hammock, reading my romance novel, walking the dog, grilling steaks, etc. AAHH this is the life!
Well Friday, we stopped by the park office and noticed that every campsite in the electric area was booked for that weekend. about 90 sites. Gee everyone wants to enjoy the great weather, I thought.
HA! Friday nite we were invaded with boyscouts!!! Three large groups! Most were from Houston and arrived around 9 pm. We watched as many people tried to set up brand new tents by car headlights. Some obviously had not done this before and it took them quite a while. We snickered to ourselves.... poor parents! Meanwhile, the scouts were running around screaming and having a good ol time and its my bedtime.
Next morning some scoutmaster walks down the road with a boom box playing a "rise and shine, time to get up!" song blasting all over the place so the boys would get up for their rally or what ever.    not on Saturday!!
We had little boys running all over the place! Now don't get me wrong. I think scouting is a wonderful thing, but not in such a large dose!
Luckily they were gone by Sunday noon and since I had a teacher inservice on Monday, DH and I decide to stay over until Tuesday and I drove in for my meeting then back out again.
Unfortunately, the weather turned hot and very humid by Saturday night and was muggy from then on. Where is the fall weather?? Snakes were out and I killed a 2 1/2 foot long copperhead that was trying to crawl into our camp. My Daisy dog almost walked into him.
This was a strange weekend indeed!
Guess I'm going to have to camp again soon to make up for our mishaps! :D

Holy cow! Talk about boyscout overload!!
Atleast you salvaged a few good  (quiet) nights at the end...

Hope your next time out is boyscout free.

Yikes....not sure what is worse....a parade of boyscouts through my camp or a snake!!!  Ugh...actually, I'll take the scouts...I HATE snakes!

One of the worst camping trips we ever went on was ruined by a large group of girl scouts.  They screamed and giggled and ran through campsites all through the night. ...day too, but that was more expected...they made total messes in the bathrooms.   Everyone in the campground was complaining the next day...of course, the rangers weren't there the night before to do anything about them.   I think scouting is a terrific thing for the kids but you'd think one of the things they would instill in the kids is a sense of respect for the outdoors and their fellow campers!

They did when I was a kid ...

Where were the rest of the adults in this group?!

Luckily camping is a year-round activity in southern Texas!!

Yeah...they did when I was a kid too....
There were plenty of adults on this trip...they all just sat around in lawn chairs talking among themselves and pretty much ignoring the girls. If they did say anything, they yelled it.

I hope your next trip has a little less excitement.   :)

Funny how you go camping to "get away from it all" and it all comes to you instead. :)
By Sunday afternoon there were 4 camphosts and 3 campers left, so it got quieter, but then it was too hot and muggy to sit outside. Yuk!

AND today it is still hot down here!(93) Where is the cool fall weather!!! Jeesh!
