DW and I both felt that the young lady made some wise choices by 1.  asking where she was, 2.  Refusing a ride in a truck, 3.  Accepting help to walk back to her site with a female.

The smartest thing this girl did was realize there was a problem.
I am a firm believer that a good whistle is a cheap insurance policy for both adults and children. You just have to set a code for children and explain that it is not a good idea to "Cry Wolf".  I really like the idea of light sticks that someone suggested.
