We just returned from William Heise, Julian, California  http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/camping/heise.html.  We stayed in the caravan area.  They just put in electric but no water hookup..There are 20 spots in a circle.  In the middle, there is a giant firepit, Giant BBQ with lots of tables...(perfect for potlucks).  Bathrooms are very very clean with showers the same.  They have lifted the fire ban....Most tree are still standing (after last years fire).  Wild turkeys......really fun to watch.  Lots of birds and squirls.  Heard a pack of Coyotes one night.  And the brightest stars I've ever seen.  And we just happen to have the full moon.  Nice easy walks around the park......not much huffin' & puffin'.  Great place for the kids to play in the middle of the 20 sites.  Big play area.  I thought it would be perfect to put on the list of great rally places.
We are already making reservations to go again....soon.

We've been there with my SIL's camping group and really liked it also. I'd heard  the group site had power and that makes it nice. I agree that the restrooms were clean. The other campsites have no hookups, but water is nearby. We'll go back again, but it takes us about 4 hours to get there.

That sounds like a great place and it is in my backyard. We will have to check it out, thanks for the post.

We did the "drive thru" of that campground this summer on our way up to Julian. It was nice and if I remember right they have a nice playground also. I have wanted to camp there.

I have also heard nice things about this cg and am glad to hear of the hook-ups (yep, we're incredibly spoiled...;) )

You know Roberta, we SCC-ers have a saying that goes: "If you plan it, they will come."  Sounds like you could have a mini rally on your hands if you wanted. Just name the date and I bet some of us would love to join you! :)

Hum....I'll have to think about it.  Anyone out there interested..give me some date ideas.....how about Valentines weekend maybe?...Although, we made reservation 6 months in advance.  I'll check with the camp ground.

Julian is a nice place to visit.  VERY good apple pies!  It's a very touristy town.  We were there the weekend it hailed and snowed and the locals were kinda grumpy about the "slow" crowd, even though the main street had traffic and people were out in the rain.

I must try William Heise next time.  The K.Q. Ranch RV Park was simply a waste of good money, not just potentially mine, but whoever owns the place.

Visited K.Q. Ranch RV Park(ing) lot / Resort in Julian, (it's one of Colorado River Adventures "resorts") November 19th -21st.

I received "free" camping when I purchased my PU.  It's a membership campground.  Got the hard-sell from an old guy from Louisiana.  He was very rude to my entire family once we didn't purchase a $7500 membership, (which included a 1-week stay per year in a RV-like cabin).  The place was renovated after last year's fire. However, it all looked really messy and delapidated.  The stonework on the pathways was thrown together.  The main lodge was messy.  The older playgrounds were falling apart.  The mini-golf course was pathetic.  The pond was green and un-stocked as they claimed.  The highlights were some new RV-like cabins and one new playground.  Very dissapointing.

We'd love to go to Julian.  We stayed at a B&B there for our 1st wedding anniversary.  All we have to do is purchase a new popup.  No pressure here.  Sounds like fun

We're interested in camping in Julian.  The last time we were there we stayed at a B&B to  celebrate our 1yr anniversary.  This time around, we can bring our 3 kids.  We are planning on purchasing our new 05 Niagra sometime in Jan so hopefully everything will fall into place for us to attend.

Lets get something going possibly in March or April...since there is something already planned for Feb. already.

How many people are interested in William Heise in March or April?  I can call and see about reserving the caravan area.

Correction: 3/05 and 3/26 are bad weekends, everything else is looking good.
