Thanks to all for the tips on Branson.

Dw and I spent 8 days in the area and enjoyed ourselves very much.

We did stay at Indian Point Cg and it was a nice park.  Our site was a bit tricky to get into but the park was clean and wooded.  We were in the older section and the bathrooms needed some updating but they were clean.  At $17 a night for elec and water, it was a great deal.   With Golden Age Passport, it was $8.50.

We did do Silver Dollar City and enjoyed that very much even though we did not do the amusement rides, other than the train ride.  Lots of other things to do for the older crowd.  If you go and are planning on a couple of days, you may want to look at the season's pass.   It would be cheaper than buying two days of admissions.

Best show we saw was Shoji Tabuchi (sp).  This was a good show for the entire family.  Well worth the price of admission.

Also, the Branson Belle was a winner.  Nice lunch, show and ride on the lake.

Dixie Stampede was also enjoyable but I think it would be more fun with some young kids along.  Plenty of excitement.   Food was good.  Main comment that dw made is that she would have liked to have eaten without trying to watch the show at the same time.

Also did Andy Williams and Petula Clark.  Good show but not very exciting.  Voices were still there but not the moves.

Dw and I were a bit surprised at the hills and narrow roads but they are scenic.  There are three alternate routes around the main part of Branson and we explored all three.

Traffic was light to moderate when we were there but I can see why people would complain about the traffic in the summer.  If you can do the trip after Labor Day, it might be better.

We did learn fast about the free and discount tickets.  All they turned out to be was time share presentations.  We didn't bother.

One other tip, if you go to Silver Dollar City for one day.  Hang on to your tickets if you are going to do the Belle or the other amusement park.  You can save $3.00 on the admission if you present them when you purchase your tickets.  Not advertised but we asked.

All in all we did enjoy Branson but now we have been there and done that.

Again, thanks to all for your suggestions.  They helped us out to make this a good part of our trip.

Hey GeneF - I got your email and I'm glad you enjoyed the Branson Belle.  Sounds like you had a fun trip!

I've heard TableRock State Park is a nice, clean park.  And they have a big Marina with boat rentals too.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Branson and Silver Dollar City.  I have been going there since about 1973 and still love it.  We went in Sept and took our oldest DD, DS and his GF and DGD(2) and took the p/up.  We stayed in the Silver Dollar City CG and it was alright.  The bathhouses were clean and updated and had a shuttle to the city.  We bought season passes and are heading back the 17th of this month for 4 days.  We are only taking the oldest DD and DGD this trip and staying in a condo.  We didn't want to risk bad weather.  Our DGD is still talking about SDC and the horsey's.  She rode the carasel almost non stop and we just took turns riding with her.  We think she will love all the Christmas lights and the huge tree at SDC.  In all the years I have been there I have still not seen any shows.  We are only about 5 or 6 hrs from there so we plan on getting season passes again next year.
