Camping in or near Pasco, Washington?

I put this question in the Camping Club part but maybe it is better here. We are taking a trip to Washington State the end of August and beginning of September, will stay about a week or so, to visit friends that live in Pasco. Does anyone have any suggestions for campgrounds around that area. Does not matter if they have electric and flush toilets. Fishook Park is near (NFS) but it dosen't look like they take reservations.  Does anyone know anything about this park?  How used is it?  What are the chances of getting a site over the Labor Day weekend, how much before the weekend would we need to be there to get a site? Are there other likely options if this one dosen't work out? Usually we don't make reservations just go further if there isn't a place for us but this time we NEED to stay in the area.  The friends we are visiting have just moved to the area and aren't campers so they haven't been very helpful in finding out the local information.  :(  Thanks

For true camping you have Fishook, Charbonneau and Hood which are right along the Snake River.  Hood is VERY close to Hwy 395, but close to Pasco.  Charbonneau is up the road 10 miles and a very nice choice.  Fishhook is up further still, I haven't camped there yet but heard good comments about it.  Another option is Crow Butte, which is now run privatly (former state campground) which is along the Columbia River between OR & WA.  If you don't want to camp and instead want to RV site it you have some in town choices as well.

Getting any of the three w/out reservations is hit or miss, they don't reserve all the sites so you can drop in and hope, but as they are close to the Tri-Cities (Richland, Kennewick & Pasco) you'll have a tough time.

Here are websites that might help you out more:
Hood Park

Charbonneau Park

Fishhook Park

We were interested in any of the three that you had listed but I couldn't tell if they took reservations, I tried to e-mail Fishook to see but the address is no longer working. Thanks for responding I had noticed you were from the area but hadn't gotten around to e-mailing you personally.

I don't know about Fishhook, pretty sure they take reservations though, I know they have in the past.  They are on Reserve America, -click here- to visit the page or search for "Fishhook Park".
