Aw, Dee, thanks for missing me.  I've been so busy I barely even check E-mail anymore.  I've lurked here and there, but haven't felt the need to comment.

Thanks for liking my awning supports.  When you saw them was our first use (and the last time come to think of it) of them.  It was a nice project for Emily and I.  This is how I made them:  I went to Home Depot and got small-ish plastic flower pots for $.99 each, two boxes of plaster of Paris (in the paint dept), a piece of PVC pipe that I cut to 9" using the cutters they have in the PVC department (take your support poles to be sure they will fit inside).  A craft store had pretty stones that we used (the flattened marbles), but you could use shells or artificial flowers (if your DH will let you -- mine wouldn't go for that).  We mixed the plaster in a throw-away container and used a spatula to get it into the flower pot.  One of us held the PVC in the middle so it would be centered and plaster wouldn't get inside of the pipe.  Then we just pressed in the decorations to the tops of the plaster.  Voila -- you're done!  Make sure you press them in well or they will come loose.  I have to admit I stole the idea from Abdiver, but I just "prettied" mine up a little.

And after all that, this thread belongs in the "favorite gadgets" post and we're hijacking someone's post, for which I apologize.
