Santa Paula Was Nice How About Another Rally

I was thinking!  "OH NO, this aught to be good",  as DH would say. :eyecrazy: When we were in Vail Lake in Oct, there were rumors that the campground was going to be turned over to Thousand Trails and that we may not be able to camp there anymore.

Well, I have a plan.  If Vail Lake doesn't work out for this coming Oct, how about doing our rally in Santa Paula.  It was so pretty there and we can attempt to get the circular campgound so we can all be together and equal distance to the firepit.

If not, how about another time this year.  It was relaxing looking at the wine vineyards, enjoyed taking hilly walks, the kids loved the petting zoo and the laundry facilities really came in handy.

What do you think?

Kim,

I think that is a wonderful idea.  And that fact that it is about 22 miles from here doesn't come into play at all.  ;)

aaaaahhh what a nasty rumor.   :%  I sure hope not. Vail is great in October

Santa paula was nice... even if I have to drive a hundred miles ..(not like Scott ;)   :J) we would like to go there again. I would like to be in a different loop tho. that hike to the bathroom was a killer

I didn't hear those rumors, but I will call and find out.  I'll post what I learn.

TT used to own another campground in Aguanga, about 5 miles from Vail Lakes.  It is now a rig only place - very expensive and exclusive.

It was my folks TT base, until it sold maybe 5 years ago.

I really doubt TT would buy back into the area - espeically with Idylwild only 30 minutes upt the road.

I'm not sure I could handle the drive to Santa Paula.  I mean, really, I don't think I'd even have enough time to scratch off one Bingo card during the duration of the drive.  ;)  But, if Scott insists and the dates are right, I can haul the Marga-G-ta bar out and shake a few!  :D

Spoke to VLR today. Good news--the rumors are just that--rumors. They were completely unaware of any such plans in the works and said no TT for them. :)

Would you do that for us..I know the drive is a rough one. You sure know how to make us feel loved :J

gee maybe I should bring karaoke so we can all enjoy your singing :D  I sure enjoyed it at pismo.

That's it a slogan: "Marga-G-Ta -the drink thats so good, it makes you sing" :!

Soooooo......

Just because Vail Lake Resort is still the rally for October doesn't mean we can't still have a rally at Santa Paula!  Anyone got any ideas for dates on this one?

maybe during the railfest if its not too far. my friend Jill (some of you met) lives that way and I'm not sure if itwas Piru or Castaic she says was yuckky. I will e-mail her and get the scoop

I'd root for the Rail Fest.  This campground is closer and easier to get to than Piru.  Who's going to be the FIRST to make a reservation.

Hey G---ain't it about time you WagonMastered one of these events???

Alder is the cg that campers have found to be nice for groups--it has a large grassy area in the middle for the group get togethers.  There are 10 sites in this section.

Right now, the railroad tracks have sustained a considerable amount of damage.  Hopefully, they'll be repaired in time for Rail Fest (scroll down to see brochure) Mar. 19-20.  More Rail Fest info here.

I may have written the book (um article) but in all reality, Georgeanne is by far the better organizer in the family.
