You can count us in, if this is going to happen.  Sounds like fun. The DD will be off school that month.

TheViking

Count us in. Sounds like a good time!

Important Update as of 2/24/05!!!!

Mark your calendars everyone! The date of this rally has been changed!!

It is now Friday, October 14, through Sunday, October 16, 2005

I'm sorry for the date change, but this was the only weekend that I could get enough sites to accomodate as many people as possible who have expressed an interest in going. It looks like I'll be boarding a red-eye flight to Canada Sunday evening again, just like I had to last year, but it's well worth it to camp with all of you! :)

The bad (?) news....the only section that had even remotely enough sites was the Arroyo Seco section. Unlike the rest of the cg, the sites in this section do not have tables and chairs. We will have to bring our own for the potlucks.

...and the good news...all sites have water, electricity, and sewer, and unlike the cg's other sites which are going for $55.00/night (up from $40/night last year), Arroyo Seco is only $30.00/night. :) There is also a nice area in between two rows of the sites I've reserved that looks like it might be good for the potlucks.

I know that some of you had indicated that the Arroyo Seco sites were not as nice as the other ones at Vail Lake Resort, but I had looked at them last year during our Halloween rally, and they really didn't seem that bad. I had also used the restroom there and did not see the missing walls, etc. Granted, they're not as ritzy as Chardonnay Mesa, but if we want to camp together, then this was it.

So here's the bottome line: I was able to reserve 38 sites. They are:

355-359
361 and 362
364
368 and 369
372-391
403-410

Please note we do NOT have sites 363, 370-371, and 411, so please don't say you want one of those sites.

As co-wagonmaster, I'm laying dibs on 378. I would ask that Dee, as the other wagonmaster, get her choice of sites, but other than that, let the feeding frenzy begin in earnest! :eyecrazy: :J

Total costs for this rally are $60.00 per site (that's for 2 nights, folks). If you'd like to extend the weekend a bit and arrive on Thursday, you'll need to make the arrangements yourself directly with VLR. Their reservation number is 866-824-5525. If everyone wants to arrive on Thursday, let me know and I'll change the reservations. It would be nice to extend this rally another day so that trick-and-treating for the kids, costume contest and potlucks could be spread out a bit more, rather than jam-packed all on Saturday. FWIW, we'll be arriving on Thursday. :)

I sent a message to PUT's super moderator, Brainpause, aka Larry, to see if we can have a thread in the rally forum section to keep this rally organized. Generally, rallies have to be at least 4 days in duration to warrant a thread in the Rally forum, but with so many people, maybe they'll make an exception for us. I think it would be easier to keep all our threads on potlucks and activities together in one place for everyone to track instead of in our SCCamper forum, where we would have lots of threads to sift through. I'll keep you updated if Larry says it's okay.

Soooooo.....Dee, it's looks like we're on, baby! Are you ready to co-wagonmaster this party!?! :D

Hey Matt :)

I didn't ask because in a way, it doesn't matter.  There weren't more than 10 other sites together througout the cg for this weekend, and we're already up to 23 families expressing an interest in attending.  The other 2 weekends for this festival are already nearly sold out, and I only got my flyer this past Saturday!

I did ask whether they planned on getting tables and chairs out to that section and the woman I spoke with didn't know.  My family will probably be camping at this cg in mid-April, so I'll be sure to stop in at the office and pick their brains for info.  I'll also check out the section and see how it looks.  When you visited, it could have still been suffering the ravages of the weather we've had this winter and they just didn't have time to spruce it up yet, or maybe they are waiting until the rainy season is behind us.

You are very welcome.  Thank you for helping to wagonmaster this bad boy. :)   Okay, enough of the mutual admiration society. ;) :p

They didn't say and I didn't think to ask--I was working so hard just trying to concetrate on getting enough sites together!  :o

Didn't someone (Matt?) post that the flyers went out about a week ago?  I think they'll probably ditch their prior 6 months in advance policy for their Halloween festival, especially if they can sell out 3 weekends in October before the end of February!

TheViking

Dee, We'd like to reserve spot 389. I notice you have a couple of kids.  My DD  likes that Idea.

Why can't I click on the map to view it? Is it available somewhere else?

griffsmom

Jennifer,  try this link:  http://www.vaillakeresort.com/campmap.html

The Arroyo Seco section is in the lower right-hand corner

I just checked with Darksiders and we would like 361 and 362.

Woohoo!  Thanks, Lori and Dee.

Chez Way

Yikes!  I wasn't logged in.  Chez Way and Darksiders would like 361 and 362.

P.S.  411 looks really good though....
