Quote from: AzusateachHey Pastor!
I called Silent Valley, told them what I wanted & they said to get a guest pass, go find my site, then come back & let them know which one I chose. Is there anywhere in particular in Area B that you're thinking of? Will you all have some sort of identifying ... something ...? Maybe a certain colored bandana hanging from your rig or something? Or is this too formal? :screwy:

Laura
How about we put our rally signs up in our bed windows, this will let people know they're in the right place.

Laura,  Thanks for the heads up on the snow......Hahaaaa guess we'll find out how to camp in the snow?!  Also, better make sure our snow chains are packed in the truck first(woops husband says they're in the truck all the time).....Just to be on the safe side I'll double check.....  Think I'll start doing a Anti-snow dance then it can snow all it wants after the 21st.  All kidding aside we're looking forward to getting out for a fun weekend with the group packing lots of hot choc. and warm clothes electric blankets etc.......carol

Okay, so I'm now thinking, how high do I have to open the PU once I get it home if we get wet taking it down?  Can you see the shift from, "not going if it rains" to, "I'm going but need advice on drying out the tent"?  Seriously, I live in a townhouse, the trailer's stored in the garage (WITH the Explorer!), and I don't have any room to pull out the ends, even with the car out.  Can I just raise the roof a foot or two & pull the canvas out?  Will that do it in a closed garage?
Thanks!
Laura

P.S.  I have LOTS of woolies -- cold doesn't scare me!  Just the wet ...

griffsmom

Bad news Laura.  If you camp with us, you'll get wet.  We seem to just naturally draw moisture out of the air!  :D

From what I've read, I think that raising the roof and pulling the canvas out even if the bunk ends are still pushed in, is fine.  You just don't want the canvas all closed up inside the camper where it can't dry out.

cjpoppin

I think Griffsmom is correct about drying out the canvas.....Plus it has to be better then not opening up the PU at all.........Because it would rot for sure!!  Amen to her quote about getting rained on.....We too always seem to get wet while camping but then when you go camping in the winter what do we think will happen??  We'll have fun rain, snow and all....come on out and find out for yourself.........Now all I have to do is come up with something for our pot lucks.....This is the hardest part for me.......

Azusateach

This is worse than waiting for Christmas ... I can't believe how excited I am!  Okay, I'll pull out the canvas inside the garage when I get home.  Now, what meal is the potluck?  Do we all just bring ... whatever, and then share, or do we divvy up the meal?  Have to have something new to think about between now & then!   :D

We usually have a potluck on Saturday morning and again for Saturday dinner.  Every family brings something and everyone helps themselves to what's being served.

Amen to that! I usually start stressing out about what to bring 2 weeks before, then I still don't decide till we get there and have to frantically run to the store!

And here I thought camping was supposed to be relaxing....

WoW...why stress.. as long as it's edible ;) everyone will enjoy what ever you make.   I love cooking for potlucks ..I have a couple of Fav's I like to make and bring it everytime.   usually dinner I do spaghetti (so I know my picky DD will eat) and breakfast it's breakfast burritos or mini cereal boxes and milk..

and I usually cook the spaghetti ahead of time so I just throw it in a crock pot with sauce and meatballs and heat it up. I cook the sausage and potatos for my burritos ahead of time too.

I went back and looked at the posts and pastor is planning on Sat.Morning and night potlucks and another one on Sunday night for everyone staying until Monday.......So I better get my thinking cap on but I agree that there really isn't much to worry about the food tables are awesome................Watch out Diet!Think I'll make my pull apart pork for dinner #1 and not sure about #2 yet and still working on Breakfast.

We may have tp back out of this one. Just talked to our vet and she recommends not taking the puppy camping yet because she hasn't had vaccinations yet. So unless we can find someone willing to puppy sit, we can't go.

Didn't you make that pull-apart pork dish at the Halloween rally?  If so, my DH still raves about that!  I'd love to have that recipe if you're willing to share it! :)

cjpoppin

Unfortunately, I won't be at Silent Valley, but you can either send it to me or better yet, post it on the recipe forum here at PUT and then everyone can give it a try, that is if you don't mind sharing with lots of people.  It's way too good to not share with everyone! :)

OC Campers

I would love the pork pull recipe too.
