DH just told me that there is rain planned for next weekend.  If this is so, we'll cancel our reservations and use our Free pass some other time.

Me, too.  I'm going to call Silent Valley to see how late I can cancel.  Just can't think why I'd want to spend a wet weekend not enjoying a campsite.  Darn!  I really want to go!

I went to the Silent Valley site and on their web it only says a chance of showers......We have already sent our check to Pastor Parker and still not heard from the rest of group on how everyone is feeling about still going...So is it still a go????

Hey everyone!

Even though I am not able to join you all at this rally, I would encourage you not to let a little rain scare you off.  Since DH and I joined the boards 3 years ago and started camping with all the wonderful people and friends we have met here at PUT, we've had quite a fair share of camping in the rain.  So much so, that we joke that once SCCampers schedules a rally, weathermen change their forecasts to include storms!! :yikes:

Just take your rain gear and some extra dry clothes, put up some tarps, huddle under awnings, and laugh at yourselves and the weather.  It's all about camping with good friends and even rain can't dampen that.

May the Lord chose to bless you with blue skies!  :)

Hey, the Moose is going camping at Calico this weekend rain or shine and after the Trick or Treat rain, nothing is going to stop us. The weather will clear up and you can set up the trailer the next weekend to dry out. It's dry inside and good company I'm sure. Go have fun. I guarantee we will. OK, where did I put my Black Rasberry Kamikaze. Oh, so smooth.

Rain smain.. we always find away to have fun....besides it's not a SCCampers rally without a little rain on a potluck....too bad Moose and I won't be camping together we could do our "no rain" dance.

Thank you....Thank you......That's how we feel about it too but I wasn't sure how and what this group did at times like this......We plan on going rain or shine my only concern was if Pastor D. was going because he has our check...........We have camped so many times in the rain I can't count and like you said after Vail Lake we all lived and had fun doing it.........(well some of us anyway, heeheeee) One of my very best memories of camping as a kid was in the rain and we were tent camping now I can't say how much fun it was for my Mom......Hahaaaaaa  Well I hope everyone changes their minds and gives it a try after all how many times is the weather man right??   Moose the weather up here in the High Desert will be great the thing you must hope for is the WIND doen't decide to blow you out of the campground(just kidding,I hope!)...........Everyone camping or not this President's Day Weekend have a great one.... we plan on doing the same.  Carol

Ahhhh, the tension!  What to do, what to do?  Well, for now, I'm going to take a nap.  Things will sort themselves out as we roll along through the week.  Showers, okay.  Deluge, hmmmm.  I hate ambiguity!

I think our first trip with the group was in the rain, as I remember someone bringing potluck appetizers door to door because it was raining so hard!  Also, I just checked weather.com and it shows cloudy on Sat and Sun, and light showers on Monday.  Maybe we'll be lucky and miss the rain?!  Oh and we bought our ceramic heater today, so I plan on being warmer this trip!  :)

Quote from: kimrb266How about we put our rally signs up in our bed windows, this will let people know they're in the right place.

Kim, how do we get a rally sign?

We've received a few signs during rally's.

Moose is the sign man. He has graciously made us laminated signs for a few of the rallies.  I proudly display my three signs in the bunk end window whenever we go camping.

Maybe as things get closer, we can persuade him into making signs for the halloween rally....something to do with a good microbrew probably wouldn't hurt.....:D

We now have several problems with the trip.

1.  Rain is scheduled for the mountian ragion through Monday Evening, along with very cold temps.

2.  I have received only one check.  Not major deal.

3.  THis is ithe very big one.  My wife and I have been both struck by severe bronchitis.  best possibility is recovery in ten days, from last saturday.  THis makes ut unbearable for us to go.

Here is what I recommend.  ON the webstire for Silent Valley, there is a three day pass.  THere is no conditions for it for anyone.  Not intended for use by groups.  However, if you all used ti, got in free, you could camp together.

I don't know what it is about camping with SCC.  At vail lake, we get ick.  this time we get sick  :-(

Hope you all have fun. ( the one check will be returned)
