Wow, Pastor!  I think I'd rather camp in the rain than have bronchitis.  I hope you're feeling much better real soon.  Weather is a fickle thing -- Dallas Raines is saying it might not be so bad after all, but I still think I might bow out.  Take care!

Pastor... Jim and I hope you and wife get to feeling better very soon.....We are so dissapointed this camp out is falling apart. We had most of our stuff gathered up and ready to load the truck up in a couple days......Don't think we'll be going because it's a long drive for only two nights and three days and not knowing if anyone else is going??  So I'll be looking for our check in the mail and hopefully we'll find a place to go close to home.......Maybe we'll open it up and camp in the back yard........Happy Camping to All out there and have a truly great weekend and We'll be praying for NO RAIN......Or at least only showers.....

Carol, I'm not sure your info on Calico (Ghost town, right?) being dry camping is correct.  They do have full (46 sites) and partial (58 sites) hook ups, and I think that Moose will even be there this weekend.  Here's the site for camping:

The full hookup sites are probably sold out for this holiday weekend. Check for cancelations. I will check to see if there are any cancelations with our group. That would open up a full hookup site. This weekend they also have a Civil War re -enactment.

Okay, I'm not giving up the ghost yet!  Who else is waiting until the last minute?  I'm deciding Friday morning, since I've already taken the day off & have nothing else scheduled.  Keep me posted!

You are correct about the full hook up sites however when I called they were all booked! Due to the Civil War doings out there this weekend.......Only dry camping on a first come first serve......and it's much to cold not to have Electric for us.........

Russinator

I had hoped the weather was going to be like yesterday and today. However, the forecast is saying 80% chance of rain for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Due the the rain Donna and I will not be there. Not camping with you all is upsetting but we feel it's the smart thing to do - at least it is for us.

why don'y you try Vail Lake in Temecula??

kimrb266

We cancelled our reservations with Silent Valley a couple days ago.  We and the kids were disapointed about not going camping this weekend esepcially since we purchased our new PUT in time for this campout.  To make up for the missing camping trip, I made reservations at Santa Paula in March.

So, when in March are you going?   What's Santa Paula like?  I have the 18th off.  I'd sign up -- provided the weather cooperates!   :eyecrazy:

Sorry--I misunderstood your post. :) Dee has a good point about Vail Lake. We've never been unable to get a site there for when we wanted to go camping--even last minute in the summer.

We had been going back and forth because of the rain but now the flu bug has been marching through our family.  We are disappointed too because this looked to be a great crowd at a great campground - and all of those birthdays and anniversaries!  Hope to meet up with you all some other time soon.
