Planning a trip, any suggestions

I'm planning a trip for the end of August.  I'm going to Minnesota with my girlfriend because that is where she is from and I've never been back there with her.  We're turning the trip into a visit family/kayaking trip so I'm looking for any suggestions on a nice rv park located on a lake.  So far I've been looking around Leech Lake but I'll consider anything since I don't know anything about the area. Haven't thought Leech Lake in years.  I was there back in 1970, in August as I recall.  Last trip I took with my parents and siblings.  Remember I took a 2-week vacation from work for that trip that I really couldn't afford.  Took it because I was pretty sure it would be my last chance.  I was right.

Nice lake with great fishing.  Believe the place we stayed was called Leech Lake Campground, about 5 miles north of Walker.  Very nice campground with good facilities.  Couldn't even guess what we paid at that time and I'm betting it's not even there now.  My dad and I rented a boat and motor for that period.  Did a great job of ripping up the walleye and northerns.  Even got hammered by a few fair sized muskys.  If nothing else wanted to bite, we could always catch some nice lake perch for dinner.
 
Well, can't help you much as it's been way too long since I've been there.  I will thank you for the memories and the chance to talk about them a bit.
