I have camped there.  It is a very beautiful place to visit.  The lake actually has water in it and is kept relatively full, unlike Lake Cachuma which the Water District keeps empty.  Great fishing, no swimming or waterskiing!

Regarding your PU, some of the loops feel like a crowded RV park, namely FOX, and some spots in other loops are big and shady.

There is a small waterpark there open during the summer.  It is a zoo!  You must buy your tickets in advance!  They have a headcount limit.  Once it's ful, it's full.

SCCampers has camped here a few times and had a great time each time. You can check the www.sccampers.org web site (past trips link) to see pictures. I also have some pictures on my Web shots page and some more here

We have camped in Fox once, and beacher is right about it having more of the rv park feel to it. More often, we have camped in B loop, which is shady and has more of a woodsy feel to it, but the road to marina cuts through this loop, so if you have little ones, you want to be off of the main road. B has W and E, but no S. Here's the campground map: http://www.casitaswater.org/lake%20casitas/camp%20at%20lake%20casitas/camp%20at%20lake%20casitas.htm

We like this cg quite a bit, but it can be baking hot in the summer through to September. The flies can be pretty wicked too depending on the season, so if you have a screen room or add-a-room, you may want to take it along.

The waterpark is a hit with the kids--my 4 y/o DS loves it--and 2 years ago, they put in a "floating river" which is a relaxing way to cool off. If you are camping there, I think you can reserve tickets in advance through the reservationoffice, but you should check the Web site to be sure. http://www.casitaswater.org/lake%20casitas/waterplayground.htm The water park is open everyday from Memorial Day to Labor Day and then weekends for specified period before and after those dates.

Ojai is a short drive and has some wonderful restaurants and shops. Ventura Pier is also about 20-30 minutes away and is nice afternoon trip. We like eating lunch on the pier--great seafood and micro beers. :D

Our church chose this CG this year for our family campout.  I went with the SCCampers there.  My DH usually won't go on our church campout because it's on a holiday weekend, but he wants to go this time.  We liked it there.   Of course, the company you keep makes any CG better!
